Charles Edward Rouse

June 25, 1950 — March 17, 2017

Charles Edward Rouse came into this world on June 25, 1950 in College Station, Arkansas to the union of Willie Rouse, Sr., and Unibell Williams Rouse. He accepted Christ at a young age and was later baptized by Superintendent Leroy Williams at Tate Temple COGIC. He was a faithful member of New Hope COGIC. On January 22, 1971 he was drafted into the United States Army where he received the expert qualification badge with grenade bar, an oversea service bar, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the sharpshooter qualification badge with rifle bar. Charles, though tall in stature, possessed a friendly and caring heart. He could be referred to as the gentle giant who never met a stranger. His outgoing and magnetic personality made his an instrument in winning friends and acquaintances. However, finding love he met and married Vivian Owens on October 1, 2001 and this union blended a family of seven children and ten grandchildren. Their home was always filled with jokes and laughter. He was a great father and a true friend. He enjoyed video games, computers, working on cars and in the early 70’s he was a member of the Omaha, Nebraska gospel group the All Stars. On Friday, March 17, 2017 he passed from this life to a life of eternity. His family was at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Herman Rouse; a sister, Dorothy Hadley; a son, Charles Brown (2003), a niece, Jacqueline Watson (2015); and his best friend Charles “Chuck” Page (2013). A lifetime of love and memories will be forever felt by his wife of ten years; Vivian Owens-Rouse of Hot Springs Village, AR; his children, Tyrell Rouse of Little Rock, AR, Tywon (Jacki) Rouse of Little Rock, AR, and Tanshia Rouse-Campos of Little Rock, AR; Tierra Fort of Hot Springs, AR, Lonnell Fort of Little Rock, AR and Champagne Owens of Des Ark, AR whom he cherished as his own children; ten grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy (Eddie) Toney of Omaha, NB, Thelma Warren of Omaha, NB, Joyce R. Neal of Omaha, NB and Ruthie Laflora of Omaha, NB; four brothers, James (Stella) Williams of Omaha, NB, Curtis Rouse of Omaha, NB, Robert Rouse of Little Rock, AR and Willie Rouse, Jr., of Omaha, NB. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Dessie Mae Owens of Hot Springs, AR; six sisters-in-law, Linda (Joseph) Vawters, Sr., of Rockford, IL, Annie Avington of Rockford, IL, Eva Owens of Rockford, IL, Dessie Owens-Page of Arkadelphia, AR, and Pauline Street (Rickey Davis) of Arkadelphia; five brothers-in-law, Robert Huddleston of Rockford, IL, Roosevelt (Marilyn) Owens of Arkadelphia, Paul (Brenda) Owens of Ft. Smith, AR, Keith (Sharitta) Owens of Rockford, IL and John Owens of Florida; a special brother-in-law, Danny Toney and an abundance of nieces nephews, cousins; a special cousin, Kenneth Rouse and innumerable friends. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Antioch Full Gospel Baptist Church with Superintendent Robert Davis, eulogist. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service time. Interment will be at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Public visitation will be from Sunday, March 26, 2017 2:00 p.m. noon until 6:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. all to take place at Williams Funeral Home.
