Mack "Rain Maker" Hall

March 27, 1933 — June 27, 2001

For none of us has life in himself, and none becomes his own master when he dies. For if we have life, we are alive in the Lord, and if we die, we die in the Lord. So, then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s possession. Happy from now on are those who die in the Lord! So it is, says the Spirit, for they rest from their labors. Mack Hall was born into time on March 27, 1933, to Mann and Ada Gibson Simpson in Sparkman, Arkansas. He was a Baptist and attended Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Arkadelphia. To some he was called “Ole School” and to others he was called “Rain Maker”. He was a resident of Courtyard Gardens and stole the hearts of the entire staff and fellow residents. Most notable were his magic fingers. Rain Maker could grow anything. He was born with a true green thumb and loved to garden, as well as, fish. He was a local celebrity and was often found in the Daily Siftings Herald showing off his latest green thumb talent. He was a good man and a hard worker having worked as an independent logger for several years. Rainmaker traveled this road of life and dealt with the stormy and sunny days along the way to the best of his ability. He was a patient man. He always maintained a humble spirit and mild disposition and will be remembered for his smiles, his love, and infectious laugh. Rain Maker did it his way and did not mind telling you what he thought or how he felt. On Monday, June 27, 2011, in his 78th season of life he left this world of time to live forever in eternity. He was welcomed home by his parents and sister Pearl Hall-Walker. Mack’s gentle spirit will be missed by many. He leaves in God’s care his nine children: Max Hall, Jr., of Princeton, AR, Maxine Hall-Frazier of Camden, AR, Michael Hall of Camden, AR, Diane (Savan) Hall-Johnson of New Orleans, LA, Fredrick Hall of Hope, AR, Veverly (Donnie) Hall-Grant of Camden, AR, Josette (Daryll) Hall-Butler of Camden, AR, Evonne Hall of Hot Springs, AR, and Lavonne Hall of Fordyce, AR; one brother, Roy Simpson of Flint, MI; twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and countless friends. A tribute to Mack’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011, at Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where Dr. Lewis A. Shepherd, Jr., is the pastor and will render words of comfort. Cremation services provided by Williams Funeral Home, Inc.
