James Arthur Jones

James Arthur “Bill” Jones, in his 76th season, surrendered his soul Monday, August 13, 2007,in the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, Monterey, California. He was born December 23, 1930, in Dalark, Arkansas, son of the late John “Sugar” and Ara Ellen Starks Jones. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He attended Arkansas A. M. & N., now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Henry Jones and Bobby Dean Jones. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Mary C. Alexander of Oakland, California; a brother, Danny Jones of Arkadelphia, sister, Bettye Lusk of Seaside, California, two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Final tributes to his life will be shared Thursday, August 23, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. in Mt. Olive AME Church in Dalark, with Rev. Herbert H. Lusk officiating. Committal Service & Final Resting Place will be in Piney Grove Cemetery professionally directed by Williams Funeral Home. You may visit Mr. Jones at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The family will greet and receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
