Dennis "Brim" Walker

June 24, 1939 — September 28, 2012

It was in the summer of June 24, 1939, in Bluff City, Arkansas that June an Melanda Gulley Walker welcomed a son; they named him Dennis. Dennis was raised in Nevada County. He confessed his faith in Christ at a young age and was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. He was a quiet mannered and cheerful young man. He was one of the Walker boys and everyone knew that they were dependable and dedicated to whatever the task. In 1964 after a brief courtship; and believing God’s Word, “….and the two shall become one flesh….” he married the apple of his eye Mary Young, who he nick-named “Sista“. They later became proud parents of five caring and devoted children; Rosemary, Vickie, Hosea, Candy and Angela. “Brim” as he was known to his family and friends was a very hard worker. He made several sacrifices to ensure that his family always had what they needed. He was a faithful and retired employee of International Paper Company. His co-workers remember him as being timely and skillful. Family gatherings and being with his friends was always a source of joy. He was an avid sports fan whether it was a football or basketball. He was an outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. Throughout his life he was a devoted and committed husband, father, loving grandfather, great-grandfather, faithful & trusted friend. On Friday, September 28, 2012, after 73 seasons of life, Dennis surrendered his soul to Christ at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope, Arkansas. He was welcomed to his eternal home by a grandson, Montel J. Williams (August 9, 2011) and two brothers, Jim Bo Walker and Richard Walker (December 18, 2011). He leaves to forever cherish his warm embrace his wife, Mary; five children Rosemary Walker of Gurdon, Vickie (Herman) Jones of Arkadelphia, Hosea (Loraine) Walker of Arkadelphia, Candy Walker of Gurdon and Angela Walker of Arkadelphia; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry (Eva) Walker of Los Angeles, California; two sisters-in-law, Mattie Walker of Bluff City, Arkansas and Willia Mae Young of Blytheville, AR; six brothers-in-law, Calvin (Gwen) Young of Rockford, IL, Eddie Lee (Mag) Young of Fort Wayne, IN, Alfonzo Charles (Delia) Young of Prescott, AR, Freddie (Glenee) Young of Los Angeles, CA, Raymond Lee (Diana) Young of Prescott, AR, and Charlie Ray Young of Helena, AR, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
