Marlin Davis

How happy is the man whose sin the Lord does not hold against him, and in whose spirit there is nothing false. Psalm 32:7 Life began for Marlin Davis on January 27, 1951 in Sparkman, Arkansas when Johnnie and Zettie Elliott Davis welcomed another son. Marlin confesed Christ at a tender age and became a part of the fellowship at St. James AME Church in Sparkman. He was educated in Dallas County and was a 1969 graduate of the Sparkman Training School where he was a member of the basketball team. He was a former employee of the Sparkman Lumber Company. In his 56th season, on December 26, 2007, Marlin transitioned from time into eternity. Those to welcome Marlin to his eternal home are his parents and two sisters Gloria Seville and Rose Anderson. Marlin will be dearly missed by his siblings: brothers, Charles & his wife Mary (Davis) Davies of Arkadelphia, Fay L. & his wife Lottie Davis of Little Rock, Milton Davis of Little Rock, Johnnie & his wife Janice Davis of Inkster, Michigan; sisters, Evelyn Craig of Little Rock, Angela Craigg of Rockford, Illinois, and Ivory Davis of Denton, Texas; uncles Fred Elliott of Okaland, CA, and George Davis of Fort Port Lucie, FL; aunt, Willie B. Anderson of Sacremento, CA, and a caravan of neices, nephews, several cousins, and numerous friends. Visiting hours for Marlin will begin at 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the funeral home and family will greet friends and share the Images of Life DVD from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Sparkman where Rev. L. A. Craig is the pastor with Rev. Thomas Brazil, Sr., eulogist & pastor of St. James AME Church. The comittal service & final resting place will be in the Sparkman Community Cemetery. Selected to serve as active bearers of the casket are Johnnie Craig, Rickey Craig, David Hall, Edward Henly,Johnny Rucks and Fredrick Wright. Honorary Bearers of the casket will be Marlin's nephews.
