John Arthur Scott was born into time on February 3, 1944, to the union of Charlie and Luvenia McNeel Scott in Mt. Pine, Arkansas. John confessed his faith in Christ at a tender age and attended Peake High School. He was a faithful member of Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. John retired from Union Pacific Railroad after twenty plus years of dedicated service. He married Fannie Dixon on March 28, 1964 and to this union seven children were born. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. John was a simple man who enjoyed the simple things that life offered. He possessed a quiet charismatic spirit and a cunning, yet pleasant smile. He was preceded in transition by his doting parents, Charlie and Luvenia Scott, two sisters, Lula Mae Hunter and Bobbie Ruby Reed and one brother, Charlie L. Scott. On Thursday, July 18th; after a full life of 69 years John went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family. He leaves to forever remember his love and life: his wife, Fannie; seven children, Dr. Brenda (Woody) Graham of Arlington, TX, John D. Scott of Pine Bluff, AR, Jacqueline (Henry) Wilson of Arkadelphia, AR, Alexander Scott of Chicago, IL, Monica Scott of Malvern, AR, Phillip Scott of Atlanta, GA and Donna Scott of Arkadelphia, AR; nineteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosie L. (Robert) Wright) of Arkadelphia, AR, and Virginia (Rev. Cornelious) Hollinshed of Hot Springs, AR; several nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and countless friends.
