Mildred Carr Jackson

July 10, 1922 — April 19, 2008

On July 10, 1922, in Clark County, Arkansas, a baby girl was born to Nick and Glennie Jones Carr, they named her Mildred. “Miller” who she was affectionately called was a freindly and loving lady who loved her friends and family. She was a life long member of Mt. Olive AME Church and she served on the Usher Board. She attended school in the Manchester Community at Williams Rural School. “Miller” was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Grady Jackson. She was a former employee of Henderson State University, where she was employed on the Custodian Staff. In her 85th season on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at 3:25 p.m. with her daughter, Rena, and other family members by her side, in St. Joseph Mercy Health Center, Hot Springs, Arkansas, she surrendered her soul to Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Charles E. Carr, three sisters, Ophelia McDaniels, Mary Giles and Bessie Keith and one great grandson Torrence Harris. Miller’s memories will be left in hearts of her loving and caring daughter, Rena Burroughs of Ypsilanti, Michigan, her three brothers, Percy Carr and his wife Annie of Dalark, Verdie Carr of Kansas City, MO, and Nick Carr and his wife Delois, of Arkadelphia. She also leaves two grandchildren, five step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and several friends.
