Maggie Lene Jones

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” II Timothy 4:7 Maggie Lene Eason Jones, the second child of L.W. and Amanda Eason was born into time on July 2, 1906, in Clark County, Arkansas. She confessed hope in Christ at the age of seventeen under the pastorate of the late Rev. Jordan Beard and united with the Mt. Morriah Baptist Church family. In 1930, she married the stunning Noble Jones and the Lord blessed this sacred union with two daughters Eddie V. and Leva. Maggie later moved to the Gum Springs community and united with the St. Ruth Baptist Church family. As an active member of St. Ruth Baptist Church she served in several capacitates: President of the Mission Society, Sunday school teacher from primary to adult levels, a member of the deaconess board and choir member. On October 22, 1991, her beloved Noble passed from time into eternity. On June 2, 2008, just one month shy of her 102nd season, she was born into eternity and passed into the Lord’s embrace. She was welcomed home by her parents, her husband and daughter Eddie V. Those left to forever cherish her legacy are: her daughter Leva & her husband Joe Middleton of Gum Springs, Arkansas; one sister Mae Helen Brooks of Arkadelphia, AR; three grandsons Rodney Middleton of Dallas, TX, Joel & his wife Linda Middleton of Chicago, IL, and Phillip Weightman of Denver, CO; a granddaughter Margret Jackie Weightman of Chicago, IL; one step-daughter Jene Elizabeth Weightman of Chicago, IL; and a caravan of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, numerous friends and the St. Ruth Baptist Church Family. Mrs. Jones will lie in state at the funeral home on Friday, June 6, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family will greet friends and share with them the Images of Life DVD from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. A Service of Thanksgiving to God for the life of Mrs. Maggie Lene Eason-Jones will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of St. Ruth Baptist Church in the Gum Springs Community. Rev. Charlie Thomas will deliver a message of comfort and hope. The committal service and final resting place will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the Joan Community. The bearers of the casket will be Samyon Hill, Drew Hill, Glenn Hill, Jr., Roosevelt Davis, Roosevelt “Chucky” Davis, and Warren T. Hunter. The honorary bearers of the casket will be Joseph Blevins, Sam Blevins, Wiley Blevins, Roy Bell, Donald Hatley, Warren Hunter, Jr., Meldine Ivory, Holman Johnson, John Stephens, and Lon Ware.
