Eddie McKinley "Boo Jack" Fort

April 23, 1941 — December 11, 2013

Eddie "Boo Jack” McKinley Fort was born April 23, 1941 in Arkadelphia to William Lee and Algie Mae Fort. "Boo Jack" was a loving and kind person with an arsenal of oneliners that could bring a smile to just about anyone’s face. Eddie, like all of us, had his ups and downs, but no one could beat him being a friend. Eddie was a happy go lucky kind of fellow and saw life on his terms. Eddie professed his hope in Christ later in life and was united with St. Clair Missionary Baptist Church. He later joined Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served with the Laymen ministry and as a member of the Male chorus. He was dedicated until his health would not allow for attending services, but his spirit was with Greater Pleasant Hill and Rev. Shepherd till the end. On Aug. 23, 1959 Eddie was joined in holy matrimony to Millie Louise Hill of Arkadelphia. To this union was born four children: Barry Fort of Arkadelphia, AR, Audrey (Pastor Carl) Nichols of Little Rock, AR, and Kimberly (Pastor Richard) Curry and LeVel Fort (Dionne) both of Indianapolis, IN. He later married Clara “Lil’ Sister” Buford of Okolona, AR. To this union was born Eddie (Martesia) Fort, Jr.; however, Eddie also became father to Tomeka Jackson, Buford Dickens, and Lisa Simpson who lovingly called him “Poppa.” Eddie leaves to mourn his passing one brother, Leon Blackman, Jr., eight children; eighteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Aljewel Fort; several nieces and nephews; a special nephew, Raymond C. Gray and a host of relatives, friends; a special friend Delores Flowers and special loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, William Lee “Bubba” Fort, one great grandchild, Jasmyne Sharece Woods and one of the most precious persons in the world to him, his mama, MAMA FRANCIS, who raised and loved him from the cradle. Public visitation will be Tuesday, December 17, 2013 from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Home going services will be Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where Dr. Lewis A. Shepherd, Jr., is the pastor. Rev. A. S. Newburn will officiate and Pastor Carl Nichols of Franklin Memorial Baptist Church of Little Rock will preach the message. Mr. Fort will lie in repose from 11:00 until service time at the church. Interment will be in Piney Grove Cemetery.
