Shelly Maurice Hendrix

For Shelly M. Hendrix being a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and servant were all honorable. The late Shelly M. Hendrix was born to the late Rosboro and Emma Hendrix, Sr. on September 29, 1953 in Malvern, Arkansas. He confessed his faith in Christ at a tender age when he united with New Director Baptist Church of Perla, Arkansas. He was a 1971 graduate of Malvern High School and then enlisted in the United States Air Force for eight years. After his enlistment he resided in Tucson, Arizona until 1987 when he returned to Malvern Arkansas. After returning to Malvern Arkansas he united with First Missionary Baptist Church-Rockport where he remained until death. His employment included John L. McClellan Veterans Hospital, Farm Bureau, both in Little Rock Arkansas and St. Jude Hospital in Memphis Tennessee where he was a medical transcriptionist. He united in matrimony to Patsy Williams in April 2001. He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter Stephanie R. Hendrix of Malvern Arkansas,, three grandchildren Jabari, Vanessa, Shelbie Rose of Malvern Arkansas; brothers Rosboro (Sherrel) Hendrix, Jr. of Arkadelphia Arkansas; Jerry L. Hendrix of Little Rock Arkansas; sisters Shelia C. Robertson (paternal) of Jonesboro Georgia, Bernastene Hendrix of Little Rock Arkansas. He also leaves to cherish his memories a host of nieces, great-nieces, great-great nieces; nephews, great-nephews and one great-great nephew; cousins and two aunts, Mary A. Warren of Chicago Illinois and Willie Lee Wright of Morrilton, AR. On Friday, February 7, 2014 in his 60th season of life he began his eternal celebration in a land that shall never grow old. He was preceded in transition by his father, Rosboro Hendrix on April 9, 1987; his mother Emma A. Hendrix on January 2, 2014 and a brother-in-law, Roscoe Robertson. The final celebration and tribute to his life will be shared at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14th at First Missionary Baptist Church-Rockport. The body will lie in repose from 11:00 until 12:10 p.m. Dr. J. N. McCollum will officiate. The interment will be in Perla Cemetery in Perla, Arkansas. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13th at the Hendrix residence 22047 Hwy 67, Perla, Arkansas from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m. and the family will greet and receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
