George Elliot Butler

March 29, 1930 — August 29, 2014

George Elliot Butler was born on March 29, 1930 in Dalark, Arkansas to Elliot and Lula Alberta Williams Butler. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sparkman, Arkansas. George married Ella Mae Kelley Blevins. He welcomed her children and loved them as his own. He operated the chipper at Ray Lumber Company for several years before he retired. Family, as well as friends, will miss his smile and love, but will never forget his giving spirit and compassion. He lived life to the fullest, and there was never a dull moment when George was around. He had a way of making anybody laugh and was the master at shining light on any dark situation. He was blessed beyond measure by the creator and those whose life he touched received a portion of that blessing. In his 84th season of life he passed into the Lord’s embrace on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Baptist Health Medical Center. He was preceded in his passing by his parents, his beloved wife, Ella Mae Kelley Blevins Butler and siblings Margarine Delamar, Emmy Carter, Addie Carter, Birdie Lee Wright and James Butler father. His memories are being left in the hearts of caregivers and nephew Terry and Rosemary Wright of Gurdon; his children he raised as his own, Faye (Loretta) Blevins and Myra (Steve) Young both of Hot Springs, Otis (Janice) Blevins, Ophia Blevins and Diann Blevins all of Sparkman and Ella (Jimmy) Henderson of Dalark. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews. Public visitation will be Friday, August 29, 2014, 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A service celebrating the life of Mr. Butler will be held Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church-Sparkman with Rev. L. A. Craig officiating. The committal service will be held in Sparkman Community Cemetery. To sign the guestbook in memory of Mr. Butler, go to www.funeralsatwilliams.com
