Demetrice Nichole Dixon

November 24, 1975 — November 18, 2014

The beautiful life of Demetrice Nichole Dixon began on November 24, 1975 in Arkadelphia when she was born to Shirley Marie Dixon and Alfred Douglas Scott. As a baby she was vibrant, energetic and fun-loving. Demetrice was affectionately called Meatball by family and friends. She was educated in the Arkadelphia Public School District and was an employee of Petit Jean Poultry. Her co-workers remember her as dependable and hard working. She could be counted on to provide an opinion whether it was wanted or not. While in Jr. High School she became renowned for her modern and fashionable hair-styles. Before long she was making money. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Gennesaret Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Charles Hood. She loved her church, the worship experience and attended as often as she could. The greatest accomplishments of her life were the births of My’esha, Diovinni and Ty’Ron. Her children were the center of her life and brought her so much joy. She made sacrifices to make sure that her children had the best. Meatball’s courageous fight with cancer made a significant impact on the lives that she touched. Many were witness to her untiring fight to survive and beat the odds; as she had done so many times. Her sweet, fighting sprit finally surrendered to the Lord on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Though she is no longer with us in body and her irreplaceable presence will be deeply missed. Those left to celebrate and remember are: her devoted children, My’esha Dixon, Diovinni McDore and Ty’Ron Hughes all of Arkadelphia; her parents, Shirley Dixon and Alfred Scott; her grandfather Superintendent Ray Williams of Odessa, TX; her siblings, Hope (Harold) Dixon of Gurdon, AR, Shawntell (Sharonda Austin) Dixon of Arkadelphia, AR, Latorey Scott of Arkadelphia, AR, Mary (Christopher) Savage of Virginia Beach, VA, Cynthia Hanes of Arkadelphia, AR and Juan Scott, Sr., of Hope, AR; her best friends, Terraen Goshen, Freda Perry of Arkadelphia, AR, and Tara Balch Ware who passed into the Lord’s embrace on November 17, 2014. She also leaves her aunts, Fannie Mae Scott, Eddie Mae Jackson, all of Arkadelphia; Beverly (Preston) Johnson of Little Rock, AR, Treasie (Jeff) Utsey of Arkadelphia, AR, Belinda (Earl) Bailey of Arkadelphia, AR, Emma J. Hooks (Mose) of North Little Rock, AR; and Fay Guinn (Charles) of Mesquite, TX; her uncles, Beasley Williams (Clara) of Odessa, TX, Timothy (JoAnn) Buckley, Ollie (Mable) Buckley, Freddie (Marilyn) Buckley, Clarence Buckley, Carl (Marsha) Buckley, Michael Buckley, Greg (Valarie) Buckley, Charles (Margaret) Buckley and Roy (Donna) Buckley all of Arkadelphia, AR and numerous cousins and several friends.
