Moses Smith

June 16, 1948 — February 13, 2015

Moses Smith was born June 16, 1948, in the South Central Community of Clark County, Arkansas. The Lord called 66 year old Moses Smith home on February 13, 2015. Moses owned a successful logging business for over 40 years. He was truly one of a kind and those who really knew him were able to experience the genuineness of his love. Moses united with the church at an early age under his father, Rev. James G. Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, James G. Smith and Beatrice Cook Smith, along with 13 other siblings. He leaves to cherish his love, his darling wife, Erma L. Alderson Smith; his son, Moses Smith, Jr. (Tonya) of Buena, CA; a step-son, Cedrick W. Alderson (Prender) of Cibolo, TX and six grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers, Silas Smith (Thelma) Texarkana, TX, Jacob Smith (Mattie) of Detroit, MI, Aaron Smith (Earnestine) Dallas, TX; three sisters, Josephine Smith Brim of Dallas, TX, Martha Smith Dixon (Huie) of Arkadelphia, AR and Ruth Smith Hawthorne (David) of Arkadelphia, AR; a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Submitted by the Smith Family. Services commemorating his life will be held at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 1pm. Pastor Alice Nolen will give Words of Exhortation. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 2:00pm-5:00pm. The family will receive friends from 7:30-8:30pm. TRIBUTE TO MY UNCLE God made the heavens and earth in 6 days. “He” rested on the 7th day. While “He” was resting “He” was thinking to Himself, “I” want someone that will be unique in his character, have a touch for building anything he can put his mind to, but most of all he will have a colorful way with words. God then touched a child that was still in the womb. Moses Smith was born. Moses Smith grew up in a large, loving family. As he grew, people could see something in this man. He has been touched by the hands of God. Moses would work from sunup to sundown. People were drawn to him. He was a great educator, wise beyond his years. His intelligence could not be placed in words. You knew in your heart this was a one of a kind man. On February 13 2015, God wanted a unique angel with him in heaven. He left and made a special place in heaven for this one of a kind angel. He then called Moses Smith home. This one of a kind angel will make heaven an even more special place. Rest In Love, Your Nephew Christopher Louis “Blockhead” Dixon
