James Albert Luster

April 13, 1942 — March 15, 2015

The man known as James Albert Luster passed into the Lord’s embrace on Sunday March 16, 2015, at Baptist Health Baptist Center-Arkadelphia. He lived a full life of 72 years making friends regardless of race, gender, faith and creed. He will be sorely missed, but his passing reminds us that life is uncertain and death is sure. James was born April 13, 1942, in Sparkman, Arkansas to the union of Dike and Naomi Hughes Luster. He accepted Christ at an early age and grew up in Macedonia Baptist Church. James was a hard worker and believed that “if a man didn’t work, he shouldn’t eat”. He was a logger with Denton Logging Company for many years until his retirement. He had a great sense of humor, a no nonsense approach to life. Many who relished in his company will never forget his fun-loving spirit and compassion. He married Willie Lee Hunter in 1965 and to this union one child was born. He was preceded in his passing by his parents; siblings, Alva Jean Luster-Brown, Jerry Luster, Roy Utley and Charles Utley and his companion of 20 years, Daisy Summerville Davis and stepson, Fredrick Davis. He leaves to forever remember his life are his children: Anthony Luster of Milwaukee, WI, and Charlotte (Wayne) Wright-Nash of Sparkman; four stepchildren, James (Rachel) Davis and Eliza (Marvin) Berry both of Arkadelphia, Gary Davis of Little Rock and Sandy (Gregory) Mitchell of Jacksonville; two grandchildren he raised, Julius Golden and Enecicy Davis both of Arkadelphia; his siblings, Elsie (Jessie) Morris of Naperville, IL, Carolyn Williams of Atwater, CA, and Timothy Wright of Milwaukee, WI; his step siblings, Edna Hunter and Joleen Green, Danet Wright, all of Arkadelphia, Marian Salley of Bearden, and Rev. Eddie Wright of Benton Harbor, MI. He also leaves his special friends, Dale Denton, Patricia Utley, Frances Henderson and Russell Lewis all of Sparkman, Pastor Lee Denton of Benton and Robert Ussery of Arkadelphia; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives, friends and acquaintances. Funeral services will be held at Harmony Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 1pm. Pastor Lee Denton of Grace Point Church in Benton, Arkansas will deliver the message. Burial will follow at Harmony Community Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday, March 20, 2015 from 2:00pm-5:00pm.
