Clara Mae Rogers-Cummings

November 6, 1944 — May 11, 2015

Clara Mae Rogers was born in Waldo, Arkansas on November 6, 1944, to Lawson and Priscilla Rogers Beasley. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mae Rogers and Rosie Rogers; brother, Lawson Rogers, Jr.; two daughters, Catherine Washington (March 16, 2015) and Clara A. Bowie (April 2, 2015); and one granddaughter. She united with First Memorial COGIC in Gurdon at a young age and was a graduate of Bell High School. She met and married Earnest Bowie and to this union three children were born, Clara Ann, Lorraine and Yolanda. Clara later married John Henry Cummings on December 26, 1976. Clara was a proud member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Prescott, Arkansas where she served as youthful member until her passing. She loved to learn of the teachings of Jehovah and would witness where she could, when she could. She was an outstanding cook and was a no-non-sense woman. She enjoyed the simple things life offered and the nicer things, as well, from time to time. Clara was a hard worker and worked at Dan’s Quick Stop, Pineview Nursing Home, Petit Jean Poultry and in private homes. She later worked at Gurdon Primary School. She was known as a very meek and sweet lady. Clara leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, John Henry Cummings of Gurdon, AR; three daughters, Yolanda (Melvin) McCloud of Gurdon, AR, Lorraine Bowie of Gurdon, AR, Lori Williams of Arkadelphia, AR; two sons, Larry Rome of Denton, TX and Vincent (Tawana) Cummings of Hot Springs, AR; 12 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Terry Rogers of Arkadelpha, AR and Louis Rogers of Gurdon, AR. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends Liz Washington, Cleo Edwards, Eddie Jean Wells, Kelly Taylor and Goydell Bead, other friends and the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom family. Funeral services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Prescott, Arkansas on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00am. Bro. Calvin Lacy will officiate. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday, May 15, 2015 from 2:00pm-7:00pm. The family will receive friends from 6-7pm.
