Roderick D. Green

July 20, 1976 — August 8, 2015

A precious one from us has gone; a voice we love is still. A place is vacant in our hearts; which never can be filled. On July 20, 1976 – our Divine Creator blessed the lives of Robert Lee Green and Sallie Ann Davis Green in Little Rock, Arkansas with a bouncy bundle of joy. They named him Roderick De’saun Green. Because of his ability of “scooting” off the bed, he was given the nick-name “Scooter”. Scooter was a well rounded child. He surrendered his life to Christ at an early age, uniting with the Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church in Lansing, Michigan. He served as sound technician for many years. He was a 1994 graduate of J. W. Sexton High School in Lansing, Michigan where he excelled in mass media. He hosted his own TV show during his junior year of high school. Scooter worked as a DJ for Power 96.5 in Lansing for 10 years as DJ Darkside. He was also a music producer under the label of DJ Darkside Productions. He relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 2000. When his health began to fail he moved to Shreveport, Louisiana with his parents. He united with The Word of God Ministries in Shreveport, Louisiana in 2014. Scooter was loved by all, but God loved him best. He entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Green, Inez Davis and Ozie Owens. His precious memories will be cherished by his loving parents, Robert and Sallie; his sister, Manesha Green of Shreveport, LA; grandmother, Gladys Green of Lansing, MI; aunts, Sadette Green, Patricia Smith, and Lovie Henderson; great-aunts, Mary Caldwell and Helen Murchison; uncles, Emanuel Taylor, Don (Mattie) Davis, Ezell (Lou) Davis and Frederick Owens; and a great-uncle, Richard Murchison. He also leaves a host of cousins, other relatives and numerous friends. A celebration of his life will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Sparkman, Arkansas. Rev. L. A. Craig will officiate. The interment will be in Harmony Community Cemetery. Public visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 2-7 pm. The family will receive friends from 6-7pm.
