Danny Ray Pipkin

Danny Ray began his life’s journey on September 15, 1956, in Little Rock, Arkansas the son of Mary Hearn and Frank Pipkin. He accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age and united with the Richmond Hill AME Church family. Danny was raised in the Richmond Hill Community by his grandparents, Henry and Lucinda Hearn, who instilled in him the values of hard work, respect of others and self respect. He attended school in Arkadelphia and was a 1974 graduate of Arkadelphia High School. Danny excelled as a student and grew up to be a charming and intelligent young man. After high school he moved to Lubbock, Texas where he furthered his studies at Texas Tech University. He worked hard and earned his Bachelor of Art degree in Political Science in 1981. He proclaimed that his education was his most valued possession. He worked for several years as a substitute teacher with the Arlington Independent School District in Arlington, Texas. Danny worked several jobs during his lifetime in distribution management and manufacturing management. Later he settled in Ft. Smith, Arkansas where he met the love of his life Terri and together they shared great times together. He worked as a Production Supervisor with OK Foods in Ft. Smith, Arkansas and was a member of the Sebastian Chapter NAACP. He enjoyed the pleasure of hunting, fishing, basketball and was a die hard St. Louis Cardinals fan. Danny was a rare “rich gift” who never met a stranger and inspired everyone who crossed his path. After 59 seasons of life Danny received his blessing of immortality on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents; Frank Pipkin, and Mary “Mollie” McKinney (2014); great-nephew, TaReginald R. Stevenson, Jr; his beloved grandparents, Henry and Lucinda Hearn; uncles, Charles Hearn, Peter Hearn and John Hearn; aunts, Lillie Hearn, Tennie Smith and Lela Hearn. He leaves to celebrate and honor his life’s journey: his companion, Terri Logan of Ft. Smith, AR; Taivonne Marshall of Van Buren , AR whom he cherished as a daughter; his sister, Marsha Stevenson of Lubbock, TX; a niece, TaMarsha Stevenson; nephew, TaReginald Stevenson and a great-nephew, Zavondrick Stevenson and a great-niece, Trinity Manahan all of Lubbock; step-sisters, Patricia Johns and Arethia McKinney; uncle, George W. (Catherine) Hearn of San Diego, California; aunts, Nora Jean (James) Bryant of Hot Springs, Annie B. Hill, Francis Middleton, Flossie Summerville, Hazel Bailey, Joetta Tatum and Eva M. Hill all of Arkadelphia; and a host of cousins and numerous friends. There will be a home going celebration Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Antioch Baptist Church, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Llewellyn E Terry, Sr., eulogist. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. The family will greet friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in Richmond Hill Cemetery.
