Bobbie Jean Snowden-Wesson

Mrs. Bobbie Snowden Wesson was born September 23, 1937, to Sarah Webb Clark and the late John D. Clark in Minden, Louisiana. She departed this life on Monday, June 29, 2009 at Health Park Medical Center in Hot Springs, Arkansas. A graduate of Langston High School, she was summa cum laude of her class. Her education was continued at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia. Bobbie was employed as an administrative assistant and secretary for thirty-two years by the Hot Springs School District. Bobbie united with the A.M.E. church at an early age. She was a member of Visitors Chapel A.M.E. Church where she served as an usher for over 30 years and was a member of the Trustee Board. Her membership in organizations included Garland County Retired Teachers Association, Rosettes Civic and Social Club, charter member of the Jesse D. Hawkins Lions Cub, Cha-lit-so Bridge Club, and the Community Service Office Board of Directors. She was preceded in death by her father, and her brother Cicero Clark. She leaves to cherish and honor her life’s journey: her husband, Edward Wesson; three daughters, Sherrie (George) Mays, of North Little Rock; Denise Finney of Atlanta, Georgia, and Dana Snowden of Little Rock; one son, Wallace (Donna) Snowden of Atlanta, Georgia; two stepsons, Charles Wesson of Los Angeles, California and James Wesson of Hot Springs; three grandchildren, Caliece (Cliff) Hart, of Atlanta, Georgia, Barnett Mays of University of Central Arkansas, Conway, and Alphonso Tollette of Atlanta, Georgia; her mother, Sarah Shell of Hot Springs; two sisters, Freddye (Isaiah) Ollison, and Velma Moss both of Sacramento, California and a sister-in-law, Mariah Clark of St. Louis, Missouri. She also leaves a very close friend Cuba Cheatham and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her giving spirit and loving ways. The family will receive friends and share with them the Images of Life DVD on Thursday form 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Visitors Chapel AME Church in Hot Springs. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 am Friday in Visitors Chapel A.M.E. Church where Rev. Angela Brewster Piggee is pastor and will officiant. Presiding Elder Clarence V. Boyd, Sr. is the eulogist. The committal service and final resting place will be in Crestview Cemetery in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Floral expressions may be sent to Visitor’s Chapel A.M.E. Church, 319 Church Street, Hot Springs, Arkansas. Bearers of the casket will be Vester Martin, Willie Huff, Andre Richardson, Reginald Richardson, Frank Thompson and William “Bill” Watkins.
