Marie, affectionately called “Sister Girl” was born on September 1, 1943 in the Smithton Community to the union of Willie and Arilla Yarber Harris. She accepted Christ into her life at a young age and became a member of Eastern Star Baptist Church where she served as the church mother. She was known for well delivered words of welcome and love to guest and friends for annuals days at Eastern Star. She attended Bell High School and was a homemaker. Her lifestyle was modest, but full and fulfilling. She always kept a clean and neat home. She loved to shop and was always found to be dressed beautifully from head to toe. Sister Girl was not afraid of the advances of technology and would spend countless hours playing games on the computer or on her I-pad. She loved to fellowship and keep up with the latest happenings. She considered the greatest blessing in her life to be her husband, Big Alfred and her family. The sweetness of Sister Girl is cherished by her husband, Alfred Brown of Smithton; a son, Jefferry (Patricia) L. Brown of Smithton; two daughters she cherished as her own, Cathy (Shafungus) Giles-Dickens of Gurdon and Linda Bell of Compton, CA; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Vanessa) Harris of Chicago, IL; sisters-in-law, Hattie Lock of Gurdon, AR, Lillie Brown of Gurdon, AR, Ruth Rivers of Chicago, IL, Jacqueline Brown of Portland, OR and Effie Brown of Little Rock, AR; brothers-in-law, Edward (Betty) Brown of Gurdon, AR and Robert Brown of Little Rock, AR.
