DL "T Cake" Simpson

D.L. was born on May 22, 1941 in Vaden, Arkansas to the union of Lonnie and Armenter Pigg Simpson. He attended Bell High School in Gurdon and worked for the Homer G. Brazeale.His hobbies included fishing, hunting and he was a member of the Big Bend Hunting Club in Vaden. He enjoyed hanging out around the barrel at the bottoms in Sparkman and Vaden. Everybody knew “T Cake” and he always showed himself to be friendly. He was very charismatic and known to do something or say something to make you laugh. He truly lived the life he loved and loved the life he lived. D. L will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and friends. His natural wit and humor could never be duplicated. He was a simple, modest and humble man. He respected each person for who and what they were; never passing judgment knowing that only Christ was perfect. He passed into the Lord’s embrace in his 76th season of life on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Hazel Allen and Annie M. Williams; and a brother, C.L. Allen.Those left to cherish his laughter and memory are: his wife, Hollis Bea Simpson of Sparkman; three children, Mary Davis of Arkadelphia, Ruby (Vernon) Moody of Arkadelphia and Darrel (Lesa) Simpson of Arkadelphia; Joyce Parham and Della Stevens both of Sparkman, Arkansas, who he cherished as daughters; and a special daughter, Lee Blevins of Sparkman, Arkansas; nineteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves one sister, Rosia (Sheldon) Davis of Arkadelphia; four brothers, Aaron (Versie) Allen (his best friend) of Vaden, AR, Charles (Carshella) Allen of Vaden, AR, Milton (Deborah) Allen of Vaden, AR; and William Henry Allen of Hot Springs, AR; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Allen of Arkadelphia, as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Graveside services in his memory will be at 10am at Vaden Cemetery on Friday, July 7, 2017 with Rev. Vernon R. Moody, Sr., officiating.
