Kenneth "Tow Truck" Lee Berthia

January 22, 1957 — February 4, 2010

One’s story of life begins at birth and all of the following chapters are an ongoing work in progress. These chapters reveal the highs and lows in each one’s novel - with each day urging its author on to the climactic story ending. This story began for Kenneth Lee Berthia when has was born on January 22, 1957, to Charles and Lucy Mae Webb Berthia. His siblings - Charles, Walter and Major - remember him as a curious and independent child. He was always mechanically inclined; he enjoyed fixing and customizing bicycles as a youngster. Kenneth was a graduate of Hot Springs High School and grew up to be an intelligent and handsome young man. He later attended and graduated from Quapaw Vocational School. “Tow Truck” or “Kenny,” as he was affectionately known by family and friends, continued his interest in mechanics. Kenny was “well-known” for his yellow Dodge Super Bee. His love for trucks led him to a professional career as a truck driver. In his free time, eating and spending time with his friends and family were just a few of his favorite pastimes. Playing pool and refinishing furniture were some other hobbies Kenny enjoyed. The final earthly chapter was written when he departed this life in his 53rd season on Thursday, February 4, 2010, in Hot Springs, Ark. Kenny’s life has left indelible impressions in the hearts and minds of his three brothers: Charles Berthia of Oakland, Calif.; Walter Berthia of Shreveport, La.; and Major Berthia of Houston, Texas; seven children, Patrick Garner, Lee Garner, Brittany Garner, Derek Garner and their mother Rita Garner; Dejaya Breckenridge, Destiny Breckenridge, Avion Breckenridge and their mother Michelle Chambers; and one grandson, Nathaniel Patterson. He also leaves in God’s care three aunts, Sarah Mae Shell of Hot Springs, Ark.; Bessie Mae Martin of Minden, La.; Margaret Bell of Oakland, Calif.; one uncle, Marion Berthia of Hot Springs, Ark.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. A memorial service to commemorate his life will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Carrigan Memorial Funeral Service, 336 E. Grand, Hot Springs. Inurnment will be at the Peace Columbarium in Crestview Cemetery, Hot Springs. These services are provided by Williams Funeral Home, Inc. of Arkadelphia.
