Takia Yvette Williams

On May 14, 1986 Al and Lois Welch Williams welcomed the birth of a bundle of joy, a baby girl they named Takia Yvette Williams. Takia was a vivacious little girl. She confessed her faith in Christ and was a member of Carrie Street Church of God in Gurdon, Arkansas where she sung in the choir. She was Miss SWD Youth Talent Winner for ages 0-12 years and received the CCYDC Honor Award. Takia grew up to be a loving, kind, and intelligent young woman with a vibrant smile. Takia was a proud 2004 graduate of Gurdon High School. She excelled in both academics and sports. As a student she was very active with: the Beta Club, FBLA, National Honor Society, Top Ten, and Gurdon High School Choir. As an athlete she ran track, was a 2-year Letterman with the basketball team earning the Defensive Award in 2003, 2004 NCA All-American Cheerleading Team earning the Best Jumper Award and the Tennis Team earning the Outstanding Doubles in 2003. She was voted to the 2001 Homecoming Court and placed First as Miss Congeniality and Third as Ad Sales Winner in the Miss Black & Gold Pageant, 2007. She furthered her education by attending the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications in May of 2009. On March 12, 2010 in her 23rd season of life Takia traded time for eternity and was welcomed to her eternal home by her father, Al Williams; her grandfathers, Joe Welch and L. E. Kennel; two aunts, Annie Moreland, Laverne Talley; two uncles, Claude Williams and Harry Sanders. She was a loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend. She will be forever remembered in the hearts of her mother, Lois Williams of Arkadelphia, AR; her little sister, Alia Williams of Arkadelphia, AR; grandmothers, Hazel Welch of Gurdon, AR, and Robbie Williams of Okolona, AR; her special babies, Ty’Quez Canon, Jukaden “Stank” Easter, TaKaden “Bird” McKillon, Tiden “T-Bird” McKillon, Hayleigh Cooks and Canadee “Can-Can” Mosley; six aunts, Zandra (Andrew) Blevins of Memphis, TN, Loretha Roberts of Flint, MI, Laura (Lonnie) Davis Chicago, IL, Bobbie Franklin of Rockford, IL, Jeanette (Terrance) Taylor-Mayhorn of Sacramento, CA, Wynona Kennel of Lancaster, TX; nine uncles, Raymond (Barbara) Welch of Rockford, IL, Bobby (Shirley) Dixon of Rockford, IL, Stevie (Gina) Williams of Hot Springs, AR, Hossie (Ann) Welch of Hemet, CA, Willis (Helen) Williams of Okolona, AR, Stanley (Tamika) Kennel of Arkadelphia, AR, L. E., Jr. (Marilyn) Kennel of Arkadelphia, AR, Steve Kennel of Ft. Worth, TX, and Bennie (Ruthie) Welch of Osceola, AR; her favorite Coach – John Ware, her aunts of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, her uncles of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Pastor & Sis. Curry, the Carrie Street family and a host of cousins, other relatives and numerous friends. The last farewell will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 20, 2010 in the sanctuary of Third Street Baptist Church, 3rd & Crawford Streets - Arkadelphia. Rev. Ivory Curry the pastor of Carrie Street Church of God - Gurdon, Arkansas will deliver the message. The committal service and final resting place will be in First Baptist Church Cemetery in Okolona, Arkansas. The bearers of the casket will be Dedric Jones, Stevie Williams, S. Darnell Williams, Dana Gentry, Keith Smith, Curtis Smith, Marcus Muldrew and Buford Dickens. Honorary bearers will be Gurdon High School Class of 2004 and UCA Class of 2009.
