Bobby Ray Stitt

October 1, 1948 — April 5, 2010

On October 1, 1948, Jessie and Tossera Burban Stitt welcomed to their family a handsome baby boy. They named him Bobby Ray. Bobby Ray gave his life to Christ at an early age. He grew up to be a hard working young man. He was a former employee of the Hot Springs Sanitation Department. He worked at the Hot Springs Boys and Girls Club for about 10 years until his health began to fail. He was not a man of many words, but of few words and of many virtues. He was a good man and a hard worker. Bobby traveled this road of life and dealt with the stormy and sunny days along the way to the best of his ability with integrity and character. Bobby Ray was a wonderful father, uncle and friend. His favorite pastime included singing a variety of gospel and blues songs. He was a band member of the Hot Springs Iron Eagle Biker Club. After 61 seasons of life, Bobby Ray departed this life on Monday, April 5, 2010 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Arkadelphia with his niece, Cynthia at his side. Those awaiting his arrival and to welcome him home are his parents, seven brothers, Sherman, Tony, Herschel, Roosevelt, Joe Terry, Horace, Willie who made his transition on Jan. 26, 2010 and his sister, Dorothy Bowman. Because love is far greater than death Bobby leaves to celebrate his life are his two children, Eric D. Stitt and Jacqueline R. Stitt of Denver, CO; three step-children, Veronica, Andrew and Carlos all of Denver, CO; three brothers, Robert (Bobbie) Stitt, Charles (Patricia) Stitt, and Jessie (Linda) Stitt all of San Francisco, CA; his sister-in-law Henrietta Giles Stitt of Gurdon, AR; a loving ex- wife and friend Mamie Henderson of Denver, CO; ten grandchildren, one aunt, Sure Berryman of Flint, MI; and a host of nieces; a special niece Cynthia (Stanley) McClelland, nephews, cousin, and numerous friends. A memorial service to commemorate his life will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. in the J. L. Williams Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home. Rev. Johnny C. Harris, the pastor of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church will provide words of comfort.
