Henry Lee Beavers

April 26, 1946 — September 5, 2010

A strong and humble man, Henry was blessed to enjoy many of God’s blessings as a son, a brother, father, and an uncle. Henry Lee began his journey of life on April 27, 1946 in Okolona, Arkansas, as the son of George and Susie Carter Beavers. He accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at a young age. He was a 1965 graduate of Bell High School where he excelled as a student and athlete. On January 19, 1966 he enlisted into the United States Army. During his tour of duty he received the National Defense Service Medal and was trained as a skilled rifle sharpshooter. Henry was jokingly nick-named “Pistol” by his friends and family. Pistol was a very hard worker. He was a retired employee of General Motors in Lansing, Michigan where he worked in the Oldsmobile Complex Division. He retired in 1989 and later moved to Smithton, Arkansas where he would enjoy his retirement spending time with family and friends. In his 64th season of life, Pistol passed from time into eternity on Sunday, September 5, 2010, at his home in Smithton. He was welcomed home by his parents, three sisters, Doreathea Patterson, Susie Mae Beavers, Louella Beavers; five brothers, Jimmy Beavers, George Beavers, James Beavers, JD Beavers, and Harde Beaver. He leaves to cherish his big smile and hearty laughter two daughters, Wilma Faye (Edward) Beavers Long of Arkadelphia, AR, Michelle (Rick) Giles of Lansing, MI; two sons, Henry Lee Beavers, Jr., of Arkadelphia and Jason Hittich of Lansing, MI; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one brother, George L. Beavers of Lansing, MI; one sister Georgia Lou Beavers of West Memphis, AR, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and numerous friends. Mr. Beavers will lie in state at Williams Funeral Home on Friday, September 10, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. noon until 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Eastern Star Baptist Church where Rev. Marshal Allen is the pastor and Rev. Marco Giles will preach the celebration message. The committal service and final resting place will be in Piney Ridge Cemetery, Okolona, Arkansas.
