Bunnie Belinda Dixon

April 21, 1957 — November 17, 2010

On April 21, 1957 Easter Day, Herman Lee and Lula Merle Gulley welcomed the birth of a beautiful baby girl Bunnie Belinda. Herman and Lula knew right away that one day she would be a caring wife, loving mother, the sweetest grandmother and a faithful friend. Bunnie gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined Bethel AME Church. It was there at Bethel that she was taught servant hood. Bunnie served her church faithfully as youth director, church secretary, and treasurer. She also served as a Sunday school teacher, missionary worker and as a choir member. Bunnie was educated in Gurdon and was a 1975 graduate of Gurdon High School where she excelled as a student. Bunnie grew up to be a loving, kind and intelligent young woman. She lived her life by the teaching of her parents, a good name is rather to be chosen than great riches; and having favor rather than silver and gold. Believing God’s Word, “….and the two shall become one flesh….” she became Mrs. Bunnie B. Dixon when she married Howard Gregory Dixon on February 14, 1987. Together they laid a solid foundation for family life based on love, commitment, and Christian values. Bunnie possessed a very lively spirit and imagination. She gave ample time to decorating and making sure that her home was fit for the queen she was. She owned and operated Bunnie’s Florist in downtown Gurdon for some years. She was employed at International Paper Company for 18 years and then worked at Scroll Technologies for 8 years. She had a strong work ethic and together with Howard they made many sacrifices to raise and provide the best for Latonya, Crystal, Jaquaya and their only grandchild Delano. Trusting in God’s word “Be thou faithful until death and I will give thee a crown of life” Bunnie surrendered her soul to Christ on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at her home with Howard, her children and other family members by her side.   Those awaiting her arrival and to welcome her home were her mother, brother Bobby Joe Gulley, and her grandmother, Genella Harris. Bunnie leaves so many  precious memories with her husband, Howard Dixon, her children, Latonya (Paul) McGill and Crystal (Deonco) Houston of Gurdon and Jaquaya Dixon of Little Rock; one grandson, Delano Henry of Gurdon; her father, Herman Gulley, Sr. of Gurdon; a special mother-in-law, Rosetta Thomas of Delight, AR; two brothers, Herman Gulley, Jr. and Thomas Gulley both of Gurdon; two sisters, Shirley (Howard) Bell and Lola (Odell) Powell, all of Gurdon; three aunts, two uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, countless friends and her beloved Bethel AME Church family. A rejoicing service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at 1:00 p.m.  in the sanctuary of Kingdom Authority Outreach Ministries, Gurdon, where Rev. Quintin Radford is the pastor.  Rev. Cornelius Hollingshed, pastor of New St. Paul AME Church, Hot Springs, will preach the celebration message. The committal service and final resting place will be in Rose Hedge Cemetery. Bearers of the casket will be Keon Brewer, Eddie Rodgers, Claude Gentry, Odray Anderson, Terry McGill, Ricky Gill and Michael Crow.
