Annie Sue Arnold Hart Bailey passed from this life on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at her home in Gurdon, Arkansas. The last farewell will be shared with family and friends at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vernon Moody, Sr., eulogist. The interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.


Annie Sue was born to Arie Lee Arnold and Ester Mae Newborn Arnold in the small community of Witherspoon, near Arkadelphia, Arkansas on December 27, 1936. Her parents instilled in their children the value of hard work, family, and loyalty. She married Herman Bailey and moved to Gurdon. Annie was a longtime employee of Henderson State University, where she retired after many years of service.


In her spare time, she enjoyed the company of her family and a few friends. She loved fishing and listening to B.B. King and Z.Z. Hill. She enjoyed family get-togethers and creating lasting memories. She dominated the spades table and never lost her zeal for playing cards. She would often enjoy trips to Hot Springs and swinging by Oaklawn.


Her parents, Ester Mae Newborn Arnold and Arie Lee Arnold; husband, Herman Bailey; son, Edward Lewis Hart; brother, Enoch Arnold; and sister, Florence Brown, all precede her in death.


She leaves four children Glenny Williams of Arkadelphia, AR; Benny Hart of North Little Rock, AR; Kasaundra Robinson of Arkadelphia, AR; Vonnie (Alfreddie) Berry of Gurdon, AR; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, Isabell; three sisters, Elizabeth (Herbert) Ross of Arkadelphia, AR; Louise Perry of Little Rock, AR; Vera Ford of Yakima, WA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A celebration of her life will be shared at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Vernon Moody, Sr., eulogist. The interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Joan, Arkansas. Public visitation will be from Noon until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the funeral home.
