For Annie Lacy, being a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, friend, neighbor, matriarch, and women of God was a blessing not to be taking for granted.

On July 12, 1955, The Lord blessed the lives of Ozell and Betty Johnson Penny with a beautiful baby girl named Annie. She accepted Christ and united with Bethel A.M.E. Church in Gurdon, Arkansas, at an early age. At a later age in her adult life, Annie discovered her true nationality as a Hebrew Israelite.

Annie was born and raised in Gurdon, Arkansas where she graduated from Gurdon High School, Class of 1973. After high school, she furthered her education by attending Capital Business School in Little Rock, Arkansas. 

On March 24, 1980, Annie Penny was married to Ervin Lacy. To this union one child was born. Their union remained until his untimely passing on October 31, 2015. Annie was secretary with the Department of Finance and Administration for the state of Arkansas for 30+ years. Annie was an Avon Sales Representative for over 20+ years where she accomplished many awards as a successful agent. 

Often you could find her cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks in football and basketball, dancing, singing, listening to gospel and R&B music. Her favorite artists include Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, and Wanda Nero Butler. She enjoyed spending holidays with her family and friends. Annie love to read the bible and devote time to the word of God. Annie created wonderful memories with every life she touched.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Ozell and Betty Johnson Penny and her husband, Ervin Lacy. Her gentle smile and sincere kindness will be cherished in the hearts and spirit of her three children, Myron (Aundrea) Henry of Little Rock, AR; Kamesha Penny of Dallas, TX; Aneesah McDaniel of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren, James Austin, Jordan Elie, Terryll McDaniel, Laundan McDaniel; one sister, Karen Young of Little Rock, AR; three brothers, Harold Mark Penny of Atlanta, GA; Rickey (Mary) Penny of Delight, AR; Daren Penny of San Francisco, CA; stepchildren Courtney Lacy, Joya Lacy, Ervin Hunter, Jasmine Hunter, Kerry Hunter; nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.

A public visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, and the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A celebration of her life will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Christian Fellowship Church Of God In Christ, 10700 Chicot Road, Mabelvale, AR 72103, with, Rev. Rufus Hatley, eulogist. Keone Penny, Ervin Hunter, Stanley McDaniel, and Corey Allen will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Rickey Penny, Daren Penny, Harold Marks Penny, and Horace Hymes.
