A Glimpse Into Her Life
Annie Louise Perry was born on Thursday, November 18, 1937 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to the union of Aurther Perry and Hattie Mae Jones Davis. At a tender age she was baptized and accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She was a life-long member of Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she was a member of the Usher Ministry.
She was a graduate of Peake High School. Being the mother of ten children she knew her way around the kitchen and ruled her home with firmness and love. In raising her children cooking became second nature. She was a soul food “boiling pots” cooking type of woman. Annie was a hard worker and made ends meet in supporting her household by “fixin’ hair” in her den and kitchen. Annie had her own sense of style and fashion savvy. She believed the Lord had blessed her to work with her hands and that He gifted her with a "green thumb". She always kept a well-manicured and maintained yard. Annie enjoyed listening to gospel music, the blues and watching football games.
She worked as a Life Skills Trainer II with the Arkadelphia Human Development Center for over 20 years until she retired. She never met a stranger and always welcomed others into her home. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by the love and laughter of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aurther Perry and Hattie Mae Jones Davis; her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Jerome and Tracey Lambert; her granddaughter, Kiara Brown; a sister, Geraldine Sanders and a brother, James E. Beard.
Her life was full and she was truly sincere in heart. The memory of her existence will forever be woven into the lives of her children: Carolyn Harris of Arkadelphia, AR, Henry L. (Mary) McDaniel of Antoine, AR, Lawrence Harris, Jr., of Arkadelphia, AR, Gwendolyn Perry of Milwaukee, WI, Jennifer Gray of Little Rock, AR, Toni Patterson of Arkadelphia, AR, Sheila Helms of Arkadelphia, AR, Cecelia Helms of Arkadelphia, AR and Rodney (Ashida) Perry of Milwaukee, WI; twenty grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
She also leaves five sisters, Betty J. (Robert) Helms of Arkadelphia, AR, Brenda K. Williams of Arkadelphia, AR, Clarice Davis of Arkadelphia, AR, Frances J. Williams of Arkadelphia, AR and Evelyn Davis of Los Angeles, CA; three brothers, Maurice (Mae) Davis of Arkadelphia, AR, Willie Davis of Arkadelphia, AR and Charlie Davis of Little Rock, AR; a bonus daughter, Shirley Nelson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, special friends, Evelyn Harrison and Mary Ella Summerville other friends and the Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church family.
