Betty Ann Mims

May 21, 1940 — February 29, 2020

Betty Ann Peterson Mims passed in her home on February 29, 2020 in Camden, AR due to complications following her health at the blessed age of 79.

Betty was born on May 21, 1940 in Homer, Louisiana to Clotil Porter and Jake Peterson. She attended St. John School in Homer and later moved to Camden, Arkansas where she worked as a nurse’s aide. She united with the Church of God and Christ and later married Albert Mims at an early age.

Mother Mims was a faithful servant and a wonderful saint at Greater Love under the leadership of Bishop J. E. Williams, who she passionately called her pastor. During her time at Greater Love she served as an usher and was also a member of the mother’s board.  She dedicated her remaining time to educating and caring for her family, as well as, enjoying her favorite past time fishing.

Betty was blessed with a large and loving family. She was kind and out-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem; no matter how small. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Creator.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her mother, Clotil Porter; her dad, Jake Peterson and her brother, Gary Coleman; her sister Nodie Coleman Ellis.

Betty is survived by her daughter Bettye Faye Peterson of Homer, LA; four grandchildren, Felicia Gilbert, Tamara Ferrell (Chris), Anthony Peterson Sr. (Shronda) and Keisha Peterson. A very special uncle Artell Parson Sr. and aunt Mattie Parson; special nieces, Phyllis (Jessie) and Monica; special nephews, Phillip (Marie) and Bobby (Samantha); special cousins, Connie (Dave), Latonya (Willie), and Sandra (Willie). She also leaves a very special friend, Vickie Easter; 13 great grandchildren and 1 one great-great grandchild; a host of friends, other relatives and her Greater Love COGIC family.

A celebration of her life will be shared at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Greater Love COGIC with Bishop J.E. Williams, pastor and eulogist.
