Calvin Jean Haynie Zachery, a beloved member of the Prescott community, passed from this life on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock. Born on February 27, 1961, in Prescott, Arkansas Calvin Jean was a cherished daughter to Carson and Geneva Holliman Haynie. “Zero” as she was affectionately called brought joy and camaraderie wherever she went.
Calvin Jean’s hobbies include playing dominoes, playing cards, and watching her favorite shows, such as "Young and the Restless," "Maury," and "Judge Judy." She loved to dance and was a part of a family dance group the “Khaki group” which consisted of herself; her mother, Geneva and brother-in-law, Kermit. She was a dedicated member of Ward Chapel AME Church, where she served on the Steward Board. At Ward Chapel she was well-known for orating poetry, especially “Still I Rise” by Maya Angelou.
A true sports enthusiast, Zero cheered for teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Minnesota Vikings, and the New Orleans Saints. Her distinct infectious laugh and radiant smile could light up any room, leaving a lasting impact on all those fortunate enough to know her.
Calvin Jean adored her family and cherished her husband, Robert Zachery, alongside her children and grandchildren. Her memory will forever be treasured by all those whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carson and Geneva Haynie; and her granddaughter, Amelia Stuart.
“Zero” will live on in the hearts of her husband, Robert Zachery of Prescott; her children Tenaj Stuart and Christopher Stuart; her grandchildren, Amario Monk, Jr., Ashanti Monk, Amarion Monk, Christian Stuart, Geneva Stuart and Dominic Brown; her bonus children, Christian Zachery, Chanda Zachery, Ryan Zachery and Courtney Zachery; her siblings, Carson Haynie, Jr. (Lana) of Prescott, AR, Nelson Haynie (Amanda) of Texarkana, AR, Genella McClanahan (Fredrick) of Prescott, AR, Lucinda Glasgow (Kermit) of Prescott, AR, Donald (Carla) Haynie of Prescott, AR, Ronald (Antonette) Haynie of Chicago, IL, Antoinette (Curtis) Rasool of Alexander, AR, Edmond D. Hayes of Prescott, AR, and Felecia Young of Rockford, IL; and an uncle, Ellis (Linda) Blake. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, her close friends, Evette Harris, Alvin Jones and Wanda Hopson, numerous other friends, the Prescott Community and the Ward Chapel Baptist Church family.
The celebrations honoring her life will begin with a family viewing at Williams Funeral Home in Arkadelphia on August 2, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Following this, a celebration of life will take place at Munns Chapel Baptist Church on August 3, 2024, at 11:00 am with Rev. Linda Butler, eulogist. The service will be a testament to Zero's legacy and the love she shared with her family and community.
As Calvin Jean Zachery is laid to rest at DeAnn Cemetery her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who were privileged to know her. Her spirit and joy for life will forever be cherished and remembered.
