Carolyn Lewis

February 18, 1953 — April 24, 2024

Camden, Arkansas

Missionary Carolyn Lewis was born February 18, 1953 to Joseph McGhee, Sr., and Delois McGhee. Missionary Lewis wore many hats during her lifetime. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She loved the Lord, her family, and her church family. She had a genuine love for people. She showed that love in everything that she did.

Missionary Lewis served beside her husband, the late Superintendent Charles Lewis, as he pastored for many years at Price Chapel COGIC in Taylor, Arkansas and Shiloh COGIC in Stamps, Arkansas. She also served as District Missionary for a number of years as a member of Brown Temple COGIC until her health began to fail. She enjoyed being a servant for God and touched many lives along her journey. She was blessed to take care of her husband, daughter, and grandson during their times of illness until their deaths.

Missionary Lewis was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Michael McGhee; Sr.; her husband, Supt. Charles Lewis; her daughter, Pamela Scott; her brother, Joseph McGhee, Jr.; her grandson, Khiry Neal; and her sister, Claudia Ramey.

She leaves to cherish her memory five sons, Ronnie (Leslie) Stevens of Jacksonville, FL; Tarrion (Jennifer) Thompson, Charles (Yolanda) Lewis, Brett (Carissa) Lewis, and Zach (Jasbreon) Lewis all of Camden, AR; 17 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory with one sister, Effie Joe McGhee of Milwaukee, WI: a special friend, Cassandra Beasley-Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Tarrion Thompson, Jr., Elijah Gooden, Ronnie Stevens, Jr., Mon’travion Belin, Qwaishawn Thompson, Jordan Minor, Kelon Hall, and Nick Miller will serve as active pallbearers. Ushers and friends will serve as floral escorts.

Honorable to mention are Ronnie Stevens, Sr., Charles A. Lewis, Tarrion Thompson, Sr., Brett Lewis, and Zach  Lewis.
