Charlie James Smith

Charlie James Smith was born on February 22, 1969, in Camden, Arkansas to the union of Peggy “Pinkie” Jean Smith and Charlie Smith. Charlie was affectionately known as “Jaime” or “Hollywood” by all who knew and loved him. He grew up at 646 Lincoln Center with his grandparents, Jake and Mary Lee Whitney, two brothers, and a sister.

Charlie is a 1987 graduate of Camden Senior High School. Charlie excelled in basketball, and football and kept himself physically fit. He furthered his education by earning an Associate Degree in Business Administration at Southern Arkansas University Tech in Camden, Arkansas. He was a jokester and always made sure wherever he went, that it was sure be a good time. He loved his family and friends, but most of all he loved God. He accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church.

For two years, Charlie was employed at Holcim in Prescott, Arkansas. He worked hard but enjoyed the simple pleasures that life offered. He was an avid fisherman and if he wasn’t working, he was fishing. He was sure to have a bucket full of fish when others didn’t. He was an excellent cook, however, his sister had him beat! He strived to be the best brother, father, uncle, and friend. Charlie was engaged to be married on April 21, 2023, to Nikki Lofton, the love of his life. He was a member of M.W. Light House Grand Lodge.

Charlie passed from this life on Friday, January 13, 2023, at Baptist Medical Center in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; his aunt, Sandra Smith, and uncle, Myron Smith.

He leaves his fiancée, Nikki Lofton of Gurdon, AR; his four sons, Jairemy Smith of Rogers, AR; Jermaine Smith of Camden, AR; Jamie Smith of McKinney, TX; Jordan Smith of Arkadelphia, AR; three grandchildren, Khole Smith, Ja’Dyxx Smith, and Houston Smith; one sister, Angela D. (Montreal) Shields of Gurdon, AR; three brothers, Billy Frazier of Cedar Rapids, IA; Terrell Smith of Camden, AR; Brian Smith of Little Rock, AR; three nieces, Kristen Frazier, Cameria Moorehead, and Jaedyn Shields all of Gurdon, AR; great-nieces and nephews, Allissa Frazier, Moriah Frazier, Noah Moorehead and Gianna Shepherd all of Gurdon, AR; and special friends, Anthony Moorehead, Carrie Mulling, and Tameka Mulling. He also leaves a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Public visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2023, at the funeral home.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Gurdon, Arkansas with Rev. Johnny Harris, eulogist. The interment will be at Good Hope Cemetery in Camden, Arkansas.

Bearers of the casket will be Ced Wade, Fernando Neal, Vincent Reed, Anthony Morehead, Carl Smith, and Deotis Dickens. Honorary pallbearers of the casket will be Jairemy Smith, Jermaine Smith, Jaime Smith, Jordan Smith, and Montreal Shields.
