Cloys Lee Burris

March 9, 1957 — November 18, 2021

Cloys Lee "Leroy" Burris was born March 9, 1957 to the late Robert J. and Loistene Burris in Camden, Arkansas. Also preceding him in death are two brothers, Floyd E. Burris and Lorenzo Burris and one sister, Cynthia F. Burris.

Cloys grew up in Camden, Arkansas and is a 1975 graduate of Camden High School. Cloys later worked side by side with his father Robert J. and brother Cedric Burris in pulpwood hauling timber for many years. Cloys later attended mechanical school on Dallas, Texas. There he received his certification of Mechanical Engineering. Cloys moved on from pulpwood and received a job at Lockheed Martin where he served 36 years and retired in October 2019.

Cloys accepted Christ at an early age at Good Hope Baptist Church where he served on the usher board, as a choir member and a Deacon for many years.

He grew up loving the outdoors where he gained knowledge of many lifelong responsibilities. He wore many hats and did anything to help others. Anyone who knew Cloys Lee knew he loved gardening and giving vegetables to his loved ones and friends and had the most beautiful garden especially those collards, fresh cabbages and turnip greens and many more vegetables. He would always lend a helping hand to help others and never gave a second thought for a handout. Also, when he wasn't gardening, he loved fishing.

Accomplishments in life was to take care of his family and make a loving home where we would grow old together. For the memories shared with his wife, children, grandchildren, brother, sisters, and friends would forever be cherished.

He leaves to honor and celebrate his life's journey: his wife, Jacqueline Burris of Camden; his children, Carlos Burris (April Caldwell) of Denton, TX, Christyl Miller (Joey Miller) of Chidester, AR, Brandon Burris (Demetra McDaniels) of Powder Spring, GA. He also leaves six grandchildren. He leaves one brother, Cedric Burris of Camden, AR; four sisters, Mary Jenkins of Little Rock, AR, Paula Johnson of Camden, AR, Shirley Gilmore of Little Rock, AR and Anita Coston of Albany, GA. A host of nieces, nephews, family, loved ones and a special friend, Ralph Harrison.
