DeShannon Sharay Dixon, the guy who we loved and nicknamed “Big Head” departed this world on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, one day after his 49th birthday. He was born on Thursday, May 13, 1976, in Prescott, Arkansas, to Janet Dixon Johnson and Billy Ray Johnson. He accepted Christ at a tender age and was a lifelong member of Harrison Chapel Baptist Church.
He was educated in Pike County and was a 1994 graduate of Delight High School. A natural born athlete, he loved all sports. “Big Head” played the center position on the team that led Delight High School to a State Championship in 1994. He furthered his education at West Arc and the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
DeShannon was a proud truck driver, who devoted himself to his work with an unmatched passion. His commitment to being self-employed showcased his entrepreneurial spirit and determination. As he journeyed across the highways, he not only delivered goods but also shared stories, laughter, and made several connections.
He loved sports; a trait passed on to his children. He was an avid supporter of his children at all sporting events. He was the epitome of a “family man,” always placing his kids at the center of his life. He was a huge Pittsburg Steelers fan and enjoyed the music of Tupac.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rosetta Thomas and Ray Johnson, and his great-grandparents, Rosie Meeks and Flossie Dixon.
DeShannon leaves his wife, DeAnna Hart Dixon of Siloam Springs, AR; his parents, Janet D. Johnson of Delight, AR and Billy Ray Johnson of Columbia, SC; his beloved children, JaKhiry (Tonya S.) Dixon of Hot Springs, AR, TyRik Dixon of Fayetteville, AR, Kadre Dixon of Memphis, TN, and BrayLee Dixon of Siloam Springs, AR; a bonus daughter, Aspeyn Downing of Siloam Springs, AR; his grandchildren, Kaari Morant, Kree Dixon, Keanu Dixon, and Cayson Dixon; his grandparents, Coyneil Moore of Okolona, AR and Richard Henry Dixon, Sr., of Delight, AR; his sisters, Stephanie Johnson of Delight, AR, Shaketha Johnson of Arkadelphia, AR, Kyla Johnson of Sacramento, CA, Lytesa (Robert) Harris of Little Rock, AR; brothers, Billy (Denise) Johnson of Sacramento, CA, Davion Johnson of Delight, AR and Eric Johnson of Columbia, SC as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, numerous cousins and friends.
A celebration of DeShannon’s life will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at the Delight High School Gymnasium with his uncle, Rev. Richard Dixon, eulogist and Rev. Travell Green, officiating. Interment will be at Harrison Chapel Cemetery in Delight.
The Pallbearers will be Brian Hunter, Kendall McDaniel, Charles Jackson, Chris May, Jamico Snowden, Attorey Parrish, and Courtney Leeper. Honorary pallbearers will be Lamar Ingram, Delvin Dixon, Eric Johnson, Marlon Stuart, Brandon Hunter, Corey Hunter, Desmon Dixon, Derrik Dixon, Adrian Meeks, Remond Thomas, Chris Rourk, Abe Jordan and Keiko Meeks.
