Donna Marie Gulley Snowden was born on September 7, 1955, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late John L. Gulley and Minnie Bell Ellis Gulley. She accepted Christ at an early age. She attended schools in Boston, Massachusetts, through the ninth grade. Donna married the love of her life, John H. Snowden, in the summer of 1971. They moved to Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where she continued her education and graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1974. Later, two children were born, Jamieca and Shaleah.
Donna served faithfully as a deaconess at New Hope Community Church in Ayer, Massachusetts, under the pastorate of Pastor Gary Palmer. She was active with a Faith Recovery Group prior to moving to Arkansas. She was a member of the Delight First Assembly of God Church in Delight, Arkansas. Donna worked as both a charter bus driver and a school bus driver prior to her retirement. She was a loving mother and devoted wife. Her outgoing personality was like a magnet that drew people to her for conversation and laughs. She never met a stranger and made friends easily. Her love for children was evident in the affection she showed her own children and grandchildren. Although Donna couldn’t sing, she loved music and would just hum her tunes.
Donna passed peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2025, at her home with her husband, John, at her bedside. She was preceded in death by her parents, John L. Gulley and Minnie Gulley.
Her memories will linger in the hearts of her husband, John H. Snowden of Delight, AR; her son, Jamieca Y. (Melinda) Snowden of South Carolina; her daughter, Shaleah K. Snowden of Chesapeake, VA; five grandchildren, Xavier, Niriah, Kensae, Rhema and Miah; her godchildren, Tiffany Fitx and Caleb Smith; her brother, John Gulley, Jr. Her brother in laws, Cota (Maria) Snowden of Sumpter SC, James (Margie) Snowden, Lawrence Snowden, Roy (Monica) Snowden, and Leotis (Mary L.) Snowden, all of Delight, AR. Brother/nephew Leotis (Mary) Gentry Snowden of Delight, AR. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, special friends, Catherine “Butch” Reed, Linda Hutchins, and several other friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2025, from 10 a.m. until service time at Delight First Assembly of God Church in Delight, Arkansas. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dwight Craig officiating. Interment will be at Harrison Chapel Cemetery in Delight.
Pallbearers will be Jaben Snowden, Claude Gentry, Aaron Meeks, Jamico Snowden, Seth Kirkham, Jonathan Stevens, and Cameron Snowden. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Snowden, Lawrence Snowden, James Snowden, Leotis Snowden, Cota Snowden, and Gearl Leeper.
