Evelyn Laurie Parker

Jan 30, 1953 — Jul 7, 2026

Hot Springs, Arkansas

Evelyn Laurie Parker was born on January 30, 1953 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to her loving parents, Lillie Mae Gentry Burns and Sylvester Burns, Sr. She graduated from Hot Springs High School before attending Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee, where she earned her degree in 1975.

At an early age, Evelyn confessed her hope and faith in Jesus Christ at Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. After relocating to Memphis, Tennessee, she became a longtime member of Grace Christian Fellowship. She later united with Greater Community Temple Church of God in Christ, where she continued to grow in her faith. In time, she returned home to Hot Springs and rejoined her beloved church family at Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully continued her walk with God until she came to rest in His eternal peace.

While attending Lane College, Evelyn met the love of her life, Thedrit Parker, Sr. The two were united in marriage on August 16, 1975, beginning a beautiful journey built on faith, love, and unwavering commitment. Together, they lovingly raised three children Thedrit “TJ” Parker Jr (Nicole), Terrance “Marlon” Parker (Maureen), and Charity Westbrook (David), cherished their eight grandchildren, and delighted in the blessing of one great-grandchild. Their home was filled with love, laughter, and enduring family bonds, leaving a legacy of compassion, devotion, and togetherness that will continue for generations.

She was a woman of unwavering faith, boundless love, and quiet strength whose life was a beautiful reflection of her devotion to God, her family, and her church. She lived each day with grace, kindness, and purpose, always placing her faith at the center of everything she did. As a devoted wife, she shared a lifetime of love and commitment with her beloved husband. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and enduring values. Their love story was one of partnership, faith, and perseverance, and though they have now passed on together, their legacy continues through the family they cherished.

She was the proud and loving mother of three children, a treasured grandmother to eight grandchildren, and the joyful great-grandmother of one great-grandchild. Her family was her greatest blessing, and she found immense happiness in caring for them, encouraging them, and celebrating every milestone in their lives. Her love was steady, generous, and unconditional. Known for her vibrant spirit, she had a special appreciation for dressing beautifully and carrying herself with elegance and confidence. She believed that presenting herself with care reflected the joy she carried within. Her smile, warmth, and welcoming presence brightened every room she entered. Her church was more than a place of worship—it was a second home where she faithfully served, worshipped, and built lasting friendships. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived, loved, and cared for others.

She inspired those around her through her faith, compassion, and servant's heart. She also found great joy in music, which lifted her spirit and filled her home with happiness. Whether listening to cherished hymns or favorite songs, music was a constant source of comfort and celebration. One of her greatest sources of pride was starting the clothing brand Undaunted Things with her daughter. Working side by side as a mother-daughter team brought her immense joy and fulfillment. She cherished not only the opportunity to build a business together but also the memories they created along the way. Seeing their shared vision come to life through hard work, creativity, and determination was deeply meaningful to her, and she took great pride in everything they accomplished together. The business reflected her entrepreneurial spirit, her love for her daughter, and her belief that with courage and perseverance, anything is possible. She was also gifted in the art of quilting, creating beautiful handmade quilts that wrapped family and friends in warmth and love. Each stitch reflected her patience, creativity, and the care she poured into the lives of those she loved.

Though her physical presence is deeply missed, the memories she created, the faith she shared, and the love she gave remain woven into the hearts of all who knew her. Her life was a testament to God's goodness, the strength of family, and the beauty of a heart devoted to serving others.

She is lovingly remembered by her brother Sylvester Burns Jr, her niece Alisha burns, great nephew Lem Burns, and Auntie Mrs. Georgia Jones. She will also be fondly remembered by a host of cousins, extended family and friends.

She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and cherished memories that will continue to inspire generations to come. She will forever be remembered with gratitude, love, and honor.
