Gwen, as she was affectionately called, was born into this life on June 9, 1974. She was the oldest daughter born to Roosevelt Pigg and Barbara Wright Pigg in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She accepted Christ at a tender age and was a member of the Church of the Living God Pillar Ground of Truth in Vaden, Arkansas. She served as an usher, a member and director of the choir, an assistant secretary, and an assistant treasurer.
Intelligent, shy, and fiercely loyal, she formed lifelong friendships with many classmates at Sparkman High School and a special bond with her sisters. She graduated in 1992 and continued her studies at Henderson State University, Florida Metropolitan University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in management/marketing in 2003, and The University of Phoenix where she earned a master’s degree in 2010.
Her greatest joy was her son, JuCory Diante. She forged life while raising him as a single mother but was able to provide for him well beyond the necessities of life, exceeding the equivalent of a two-parent home. She always made it look easy.
Gwen worked in the loan department at Regions Banks for years and later worked as the assistant Housing manager for the Arkadelphia Housing Authority (2015-2018). Curious and excited about the possibilities of a life outside of Arkansas, Gwen moved to Louisiana where she worked as a SIL Waiver Supervisor at Evergreen Life Services (2018-2021). She moved back home to be closer to her family, friends, and community which had first inspired her to seek out a well-rounded and fulfilling life. She worked as a Direct Care Specialist with “Right of Passage” and Wal-Mart. She became an ambassador with Total Life Changes, LLC., and quickly rose in rank. She also established Uresa Elite Errand Services which catered to serving anyone who needed an errand handled, as well as, U R Purposely Made which specialized in creating home decor.
Gwen’s name was synonymous with the phrase “social butterfly.” Her energetic personality, her giving nature and her pursuit of the next best thing was a magnet for those who wanted her energy to rub off on them. She was a member of the Alpha Angels, the Gospel Music Workshop of America – Quartet Division Representative, and the Tyrone Porter Showcase. She was employed at the Community Family Enrichment Center. She enjoyed all genres of music and was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers Fan.
Warm, sassy, and always full of life, Gwen worked hard and played harder. She loved to travel, and shop and she took pride in maintaining a healthy lifestyle with self-care, exercise, and eating well coupled with the perfect balance of studying God’s word and exercising her faith. She enjoyed Facebook which allowed her to stay connected and encourage others with a beautiful “selfie” and an inspiring quote. She never put an expiration date on her dreams and lived life on purpose.
Gwen was given the gift of rest on Friday, December 8, 2023. Although her stay may seem too brief, her life will leave indelible memories with her beloved son, JuCory Diante Pigg of Arkadelphia; her parents, Roosevelt and Barbara Pigg of Sparkman; her sisters, Camille Kirk of Garland, TX, Veronica Pigg of Arkadelphia and Delicia A. Pigg-Joseph of Sparkman; her nieces and nephews, Deairrus Gatlin, Terrvonica Giles, Matthew Joseph, III., Mackenzie Joseph, Madison Joseph, and Myles Joseph; a great-niece, Harmoni Youmans, and a great-niece expecting; her best friend, Jennifer (Carlton) Lawyer; her aunts and uncles, William (Lula) Wright, Betty Martin, Wilma Wright, Howard (Renee) Wright, Phillip (Jackie) Wright, Currie (Theresa) Pigg and Ulysses Pigg. She also leaves an innumerable number of cousins, friends, and the Daily Siftings Herald family. She was preceded in her passing by her beloved nephew, Cameron Davis; her grandfathers, Overseer Myles Pigg and Dotson Wright; her grandmothers, Hattie Pigg, Della Wright, and Martha Pigg; her uncles, Robert Pigg, Haston Pigg and Edward Wright; her aunts, Annie Mae Phorne and Earnestne Johnson.
