The sweet and beautiful life of Helen Marie Marks came to a close on Sunday, August 19, 2018, with her family by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents, Reece and Mae Lee Post Marks; one daughter, Elizabeth Block and two brothers, Charles Henry Marks and Bobby Earl Marks.
Helen was born on May 28, 1947 in Prescott, Arkansas to the union of Reece and Mae Lee Post Marks. She accepted Christ at a young age and was a founding member of New Beginning Church, now New Beginnings COGIC in Prescott. She married John L. Block in 1964 and two daughters were born to this union. She was a retired supervisor with Tyson Foods and a member of Kingdom Authority Christian Ministries.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, while being a sought-after woman for advice and wise counsel. She was an encourager and gave it her best at leaving a lasting impression.
She leaves fond memories with her daughter, Brenda Block Flynn of Prescott, AR; four grandchildren, Robert Block of Prescott, AR, Chablis Norvell Johnson of Prescott, AR, Darius Norvell of Arkadelphia, AR and Sakori Bradley of Prescott, AR; three great-grandchildren which were the apples of her eye, Aiden Block Stewart, Cayden Block and Chole Block; and one brother, Willie (Etta) Marks, Sr., of Prescott, AR; a special brother, Willie (Gladys) Slay of Sherwood, AR and a special sister, Madonna Haynes of Hope, AR. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends she fondly called “The Golden Girls”, Betty Buggs, Linda Gant and Dorthy Young.
Services to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Kingdom Authority Christian Ministries with Rev. Quintin Radford, officiating Public visitation will be on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
