Ivory Mae Davis

February 6, 1961 — March 31, 2024

Little Rock, Arkansas

In the early morning, Ms. Ivory Mae Davis, 63, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 31, 2024. Ivory was the youngest of ten children to Johnnie H. and Zettie B. Davis in Little Rock, Arkansas. She is resting in peace now and no longer in pain. She had been battling with serious health issues for the past six years or more.

At a young age, she accepted the Lord as her savior and joined St. James A.M.E. Church in Sparkman, Arkansas. She served as a faithful member through her young adult years. She loved the Lord, and she was truly blessed.

Ivory Mae received her formal education through the Sparkman School System, where she excelled in her studies. She was a part of the girls’ basketball and cheerleading teams throughout her middle and high school years. After graduating in 1979 for two years, she attended Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Ivory then relocated to Denton, Texas, and attended NCTC (North Central Texas College), a two-year college, to continue her education.

Ivory Mae worked as a payment clerk with Southwestern Bell in Denison, Texas, with her job ending around 1988. She went on to work at a steel processing business as a steel fabricator until the company closed the Denison, Texas location. Ivory then worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart. She served dutifully for over 20 years before retiring around 2018 due to declining health issues. In her leisure, she enjoyed going to the casino, going out to eat, and spending time with her son and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie H. and Zettie B. Davis; beloved sisters, Gloria, Rose, Evelyn, and Angelia; brothers, Johnnie, Merlin, and Milton.

Ivory Mae leaves to cherish her memory one son, Rumeal Jamal Taylor and his fiancée, Amanda L. Jimenez; grandsons, Jaxson Taylor, Keaton Taylor; bonus granddaughter, Estelle McGilvery; a special goddaughter, DeLorean M. Blanton; two brothers, Charles (Mary) Davies of Arkadelphia, AR; Faye (Lottie) Davis of Little Rock, AR; along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
