Janice Snowden

September 27, 1952 — October 19, 2025

Fitchburg

Janice Snowden was born on September 27, 1952, in Delight, Arkansas, to the union of Jerry C. Furlow and Minnie Ola Brooks Furlow.

She was a lifelong member of Harrison Chapel Baptist Church. A devoted fan of the Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots, Janice enjoyed cheering for her favorite teams and sharing in the excitement of every game.

Janice always looked forward to returning home for family gatherings, where she could enjoy good food, laughter, and the simple joys of southern living. In her spare time, she loved cooking and cleaning while listening to the blues and southern soul music. She found peace and patience while fishing — a pastime that reflected her calm spirit and appreciation for life’s quiet moments.

Janice departed this life on Sunday, October 19, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leonard Snowden and her parents, Jerry C. Furlow and Minnie Ola Brooks Furlow; her brothers, Roy Lee Reed (January 13, 2019) and Jerry L. “Pluke” Furlow (July 22, 2017); a grandson, Leonard Anthony Snowden, Jr.; two nieces, Shanika R. Martin (2015) and Malissia Reed Tolliver (2023) and a nephew, Kenny Snowden (2014) and two great-nephews, Daniel Tolliver and Darius Martin (2011).

She leaves to cherish her children, Tangylena Snowden, Leonard Snowden and Matthew Snowden all of Fitchburg, MA; five grandchildren; Christopher Snowden, Amanda E. Snowden, Mickalous Snowden, Isaiah Snowden, and Mickira Snowden; her great-grandchildren, Sofiah Snowden, Alias Snowden, Saylor Snowden, Aubriella Snowden, Qua’Zay Snowden, and Reina Snowden; sisters, Maude E.
