Johnny Clay Ross was born August 15, 1944, to Johnny and Queen Ester Pollins in Okolona, AR. Johnny was a 1962 graduate of Bell High School; he was a hard worker and worked for many years at Anthony Timberland.In addition to working hard, Johnny loved life! One of his favorite pastimes was listening to the blues and he was well known for his dancing skills. After retiring he enjoyed fishing, watching game shows, westerns, and spending quality time with family and friends. Johnny was a member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church and faithfully attended until his health begin to fail.Johnny married Bonnie Ruth Ross, they raised their family and shared many years until her passing. After Bonnie’s passing, he would later marry Mary Ross. On January 4, 2020, in his 75th season of life, Johnny peacefully transitioned with his family by his side. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bonnie Ruth (September 27, 2014), his son David (January 17, 2019), one granddaughter, and an Uncle U.S. Pollins. Johnny’s irreplaceable presence will be deeply missed and his memory will live on in the hearts and minds of his wife Mary Ross of Dallas, TX; his children Jessica Robertson of Dallas, TX; Kenneth Ross of Gurdon, AR; Charles (Catina) Ross of Lansing, MI; Alfonso (Willie Bell) Ross of Gurdon, AR; Anthony Ross and Tony (Jamie) Ross of Lansing, MI; and Ricky Ross of Gurdon, AR; Aunts Quarlee Turner of Gurdon, AR; and Nadine Quarles; Uncle Roy (Marilyn) Pollins of Gurdon, AR; Cousins Bennie Pollins and Jimmie Lee (Fannie) Pollins of Okolona, AR; Bobby (Tina) Pollins of Bryant, AR; and Thomas Ollison of Gurdon, AR; sisters-in-law Lula Carroll of Malvern, AR; Mildred Anderson of Gurdon, AR; Annie Mae (Moe) Phifer of Phoenix, AZ; brothers-in-law Herman Quarles, Lonnie Quarles, and Lee Andrew (Betty Lou) Quarles of Gurdon, AR; seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; caregivers Essie Jackson, Mary Gentry, and Tracy Bell; bonus son Alex Osborne, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and his Mt. Canaan church family.
