Latara Roshell Dawn

The beautiful life of Latara Roshell Dawn, affectionately and lovingly called “Molly” by all who knew her, came to a peaceful close on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in the 38th season of her life.

Latara was born on June 4, 1988, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the beloved daughter of Terry Dawn and Janice K. Milton Dawn.

From an early age, Molly grew into a loving and friendly little girl with a tender heart and a warm spirit. She made friends easily and seemingly never met a stranger. Molly was a member of New Faithway Church of God in Christ and also attended Holly Grove Baptist Church. She lovingly confessed her love and appreciation for both church families and the special places they held in her heart.

A 2007 graduate of Bearden High School, Latara later pursued studies in cosmetology and was licensed in 2009. Molly was every bit a “girly girl.” She loved makeup, fashion, styling hair, and looking her best. Her interest in cosmetology became another way for her to connect with others, and she enjoyed doing hair for people throughout the community.

In her spare time, Molly enjoyed listening to music, cooking, adult coloring, and completing word-search puzzles. Yet, of all the things she enjoyed and accomplished in life, nothing compared to the joy she found in being a mother. Her greatest pride was her beloved son, Kendre’. She spoiled him with love and affection and worked to make certain he had every opportunity to experience the happiness, security, and joys of being a deeply loved child.

Molly was a friend’s friend. She was someone others could trust with their secrets, share their burdens with, and depend upon for encouragement. Whether through a telephone call, conversation, or an encouraging Facebook message, Molly had a way of reminding people that she was thinking about them and that they mattered.

She was formerly employed at Millcreek in Fordyce, Arkansas and was also remembered by many as the pleasant, smiling face at The Corner Store in Bearden. Wherever she worked and wherever she went, everyone knew Molly.

Although Molly’s health was not always the best, she refused to allow difficult days to completely overshadow the beauty of life. Through her own journey, she left behind a blueprint for finding the silver lining in dark clouds and appreciating the rainbow after the storm. She understood that life could bring both sunshine and rain, yet she continued to smile, love, laugh, encourage others, and cherish the people who meant the most to her.

Molly was preceded in death by her grandparents, Buster, Sr, and Lois Dawn, Roosevelt and Rosetta Milton, and her beloved son, DonTerrian Scott.

Her beautiful life and precious memories will forever be cherished by her beloved baby boy, Kendre’ Scott; her mother, Janice Dawn; her brother, LaKendrick Dawn, and his wife, Kenyada; her beloved niece, Asia Hardaway (Caz); her special “sister-cousin,” Sasha Jenkins, other special cousins, Tamara Haynes and Daprisha Thrower; a special friend of 20 plus years, Tabrehia "BeBe" Reed whom she met while college; her aunts, Rethia Gibson, Lurethia (Calvin) Dixon and Shelia (Patrick) Parham; Alice Dawn, and Irene (Earl) Ross; her uncles, Buster, Jr. (Angie) Dawn, Paul (Jewel) Dawn, Ricky (Vi) Dawn, and James Marshall; along with numerous cousins, extended family members, friends, and church families.
