LJ. was born December 28, 1971, in Gurdon, Arkansas as a Christmas present to the world. He was a member of the Church of the Living God Pillar Ground of Truth in Vaden, Arkansas under the leadership of Bishop Roosevelt Pigg. He was a 1991 graduate of Gurdon High School. He possessed a strong work ethic and was employed at Pineview Nursing Home and Morse Automotive. He later worked as a self-employed auto mechanic until his passing.

By all accounts, he was a “jack of all trades”, but his passion was auto mechanics, which he learned by trial and error. He used his skilled hands to repair, fix, and replace parts on several cars. When no one could get to the shop or afford the cost of a shop, he was the “go-to” man for after-hour repairs. He could be found any day spending countless hours under someone’s hood. “Po Pimp” proudly proclaimed that he was too good to be labeled as a “shade tree” mechanic. His reputation for proficient and timely work was widely known throughout Gurdon and the surrounding area. His hobbies included working on cars and being a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. LJ was everybody’s helping hand in the Gurdon community and if a person needed anything done, he would “just do it.” He was a person who did not mind helping anybody.

LJ enjoyed listening to the blues, and just having a good time. “Po Pimp” was the life of the party. Although he had no children of his own, he loved all his nieces and nephews as his own. One of his greatest joys was spending memorable moments with relatives and friends, both young and old. He will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and friends. He possessed a friendly spirit and never met a stranger. He meant what he said and said what he meant. His natural wit and humor could never be duplicated.

Our brother, uncle, and friend L.J. “Po Pimp” Green passed from this life quietly into the Lord’s embrace on Monday, August 28, 2023, at his home in Gurdon. Family, as well as friends, will miss his strength, smile, and love, but will never forget his spirit and helping hands. LJ was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Green, Sr.(1992), and Laura Bell Green(2021); his brother, Steven Green(October 9, 2015); his sister, Stacy Green Muhammad(January 6, 2018); two nephews and one niece, Calvin Lashawn Brown, III(2000), Keenon and Lillian Hatley(2010).

He leaves to cherish his siblings, Myra (Dorsey) Henry of Gurdon, AR; Raymond (Mary) Green, Jr., of Arkadelphia, AR; Lori Green (John Simmons) of Gurdon, AR; Aundra (Hermon) Leeper of Curtis, AR; Donnie Green of Gurdon, AR; Kathy Green (Julius Golden) of Gurdon, AR; Carla Green (Kelvin Gulley) of Gurdon, AR; and Latasha Accor (Bernard Hatley) of Gurdon, AR; twenty-seven nieces and nephews, nineteen great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts and uncles, Shirley Dickens and Clea (J.N.) Stephens, David Dickens all of Gurdon, AR; his best friend, Henry Charles Williams, special friends, Michael Alexander, David Marion, Wes Hempstead, Steve Wilson, Thomas Ray Allen, David Young and Randy “BoBo” Bell, Sr., many other relatives, friends.
