Lonnie Ray Lacy, Sr.

January 10, 1963 — June 18, 2022

Lonnie Ray Lacy, Sr., was born on January 10, 1963, in Gurdon, Arkansas to the union of Johnny Lacy, Sr., and Orystine  Allen. He was a 1981 graduate of Gurdon High School and worked for many years at Firestone and GP.

Lonnie loved the youth and was widely known for coaching PeeWee basketball and football for children ranging in ages 5 to 18. He constantly promoted community citizenship, good sportsmanship, and physical and mental development through healthy, organized competition.  He also dedicated time to assist with Gurdon High School Track meets. In his leisure time, Lonnie loved singing, fishing and grilling. He was a die-hard Boston Celtics and San Francisco 49ers Fan.

He passed from this life on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Lacy, Sr., and Orystine Allen Gulley; and three siblings, Derwin Lacy, Wanda Faye Lacy and Joyce Ann Gentry.  

Lonnie leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, Glynis Lacy; his children, Lonnie R. Lacy, Jr., of Marion, AR, Mark Williams of Arkadelphia, AR, Kimberly Lacy of Magnolia, AR, Davon Lacy of Malvern, and Ashley Lacy of Gurdon, AR; eleven grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Campbell and Tamar (Marcus) Bland; six brothers, Johnny (Connie) Lacy, Johnnie Ray (Stella) Lacy, Calvin (Fran) Lacy, Michael (Mindy) Lacy, Corey Lacy, and David (Yvette) Lacy; Toney Gulley whom he loved as a brother; an uncle, Thomas C. Allen; three aunts, Alice (John) Thompson, Vera Dean Nelson and Barbara Ann Allen; a close friend, Vernon Williams; sisters-in-law, Tywanna Allen, and June Allen; as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, his best friend, Rev. Troy Hearn and numerous other friends.

Visitation will be Friday, June 24, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Gurdon High School Cabe Auditorium with Rev. Troy Hearn, eulogist. Interment will be at Shady Grove Cemetery in Beirne.

The pallbearers will be Dewayne Marlow, Jamelle Lacy, Jonathan Lacy, Corey Lacy, Lonnie Lacy, Jr., and Davon Lacy. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Williams, Vernon Williams, Johnnie Lacy, Jr., David Lacy, I., Greg Simmons, Chris Mitchell, Melvin Joe Hatley, Raymond House and Thomas C. Allen.
