Nancy Marie Louis peacefully entered eternal rest on December 2, 2025, at her home in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the age of 74. She was born on April 17, 1951, in Tate County, Mississippi, to Marcus Scruggs and Lorsie Mosley. As a young girl, Nancy moved with her family from Mississippi to Chicago, where she received her education in the Chicago Public Schools. Later in life, she married the late Joe Louis. Together they built a home grounded in love, family, and steady commitment.
Nancy dedicated many years of her life to hard work and service. She spent 25 years as a paralegal with HHL Financial before retiring. After retirement, she settled in Little Rock to be closer to her children and grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. Even then, her heart for service continued as she worked in childcare at UCP and Baptist Health Medical Center.
Nancy lived with a spark that made her unforgettable. She loved to talk, laugh, cook, and travel, and she never hesitated to keep her family in line with her honest wisdom. She enjoyed water therapy and puzzle books, which kept her active and sharp.
She had a remarkable way of caring for others. If someone needed a place to stay, a good meal, a listening ear, or someone to speak up for them, Nancy was there. She was kind but direct, and everyone who knew her understood that she always meant what she said.
Nancy was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and enjoyed attending Sunday School and Sunday worship. Family was the center of her world. She treasured her children, adored her grandchildren, and was overjoyed to welcome her great-grandchildren.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Louis; her parents, Marcus Scruggs, Sr. and Lorsie Mosley Jones; her siblings Carzell Mosley, Sammie Lee Scruggs, Carolyn Jones, Helen Scruggs; and Anthony Jones and Josh Jones.
She leaves to cherish her memory three loving children: Johtel Jointer, Sr. of Little Rock, Arkansas; Zandra Jointer Elliott (Rev. Roy V. Elliott, Jr.) of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Antoine Jointer (Marion) of Mesquite, Texas. She also leaves ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, four sisters—Martha Fitts of Crete, IL; Dorothy Cox (Robert) of Chulahoma, MS; Marie Scruggs of Olive Branch, MS; and Annie Richards of Memphis, TN—and seven brothers: Timothy Mosley of Mesquite, TX; James Scruggs of Chulahoma, MS; Alvin Jones of Chicago, IL; Marcus Scruggs, Jr. of Chulahoma, MS; Gary Jones of Chicago, IL; Charles King (Jean) of St. Louis, MO; and Ike King of Chulahoma, MS. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and close friends who will hold her memory close.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. Rev. Clifton Conley will officiate, and Rev. Roy V. Elliott, Jr. will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Rest in Peace Memorial Gardens in Little Rock.
