Pastor Earl E. Green

October 13, 1953 — June 23, 2024

Camden, Arkansas

The journey of life for Earl Edward Green began on October 13, 1953, in Sparkman, Arkansas. He was the 7th child of 11 children born to Charlie and Ardeen Johnson Green.

His parents taught him to adhere to morals, spiritual matters, and educational values. Earl was a 1973 graduate of Harmony Grove High School. A man who was no stranger to hard work worked as a concrete finisher. He met and married Sandra Elliott on November 21, 1973, and they were blessed with 4 children. He loved his family dearly and showered them with an abundance of love. He was a steward provider, allowing his family to enjoy the finer things that life offered. He was a simple man who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.

He was appointed by Bishop J. E. Williams to Velie Church of God in Christ where he pastored for 10 years. His tenacity for the word of God was like fire and brimstone. He preached that there was no other way but to follow God and His commands. As a pastor, his love for Christ and the people intensified. Through fervent prayer and fasting, God led and guided him to do what he could for those who were in need. There was not anyone that he did not help if they came to him. Like David, he was a man after God’s own heart, and it showed in his love that he illuminated throughout the church and community. His favorite bible passage was Psalms 91:1. “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.” Earl believed it and quoted it many times.

On Sunday, June 23, 2024, he transitioned from this life to an eternal one. His independent spirit, iron will and strong character will never be duplicated but leave an impression on the lives of those he touched and enriched along this life’s journey.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Ardeen Johnson Green; a brother, Willie Green; and two sisters Virtice Virginia Wesley and Florence Etta Stevens, and a grandson, James Edward “JJ” Neal, Jr. (June 10, 2020).

He leaves to continue and cherish his legacy, wife, Lady Sandra Green; his children, Yolandra Green and Katisha Green both of Camden, AR, and Dewayne Green and Joshua Green both of Richmond, KY; eight grandchildren ( Ahmod Green), (Ta’Mera Miller), ( Keiara Pearson), (Courtney Penny), (Kaneice Leonard), (Kerisha Leonard), (Jada Green), (Joshua Green Jr. ), and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves five sisters, Thelma ( Pastor James) Kemp of Camden, AR, Ruby Carter of Little Rock, AR, Earnestine (Bishop Jerome) Strickland of Little Rock, AR; Mirtice Porchia (Elder Macon) Porchia of Wichita, KS, Opal lynch of Little Rock, AR, Charles (Mary) Green of Murphysboro, Il and D’Angelo (Joyce) Hubbard of Camden, AR, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, his close friends, Lonnie Gill and Stanley; other friends, and the Velie Church of God in Christ Family.

Acknowledgment - Our family has been the recipient of a powerful demonstration of love and concern from the community, the church, several friends, and extended family members until our hearts weep with thanksgiving. We wish to give thanks and acknowledgment for all the support we’ve received as a result of the love he both gave and received throughout his life. Although his stay with us was brief, his transition shall be filled with rejoicing for a life well lived. Today we step out on His word, that weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. For that reason, we simply say, thank you. Lady Sandra Green and the entire Green Family
