Robert Edward Lee, Jr.

Robert Edward Lee, Jr. , 88, of Arkadelphia passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020. Robert Edward Lee, Jr. was born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, on May 23, 1931. Robert, also known as Bob, graduated from Peake High School in Arkadelphia, in 1950. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and retired after serving for 25 years and attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. In February 1952, Bob married Fannie Beatrice Cranford and they were united in marriage for 67 years until his passing. To this union, three children were born, Joe, Robert III, and Valerie.

After his retirement from the U.S. Air Force in 1976, Bob returned to Arkadelphia with his family and reunited with St. Paul A.M.E. Church where he served faithfully as a Trustee, and as the Superintendent of the Church School for the past 44 years. Once home in Arkadelphia, Bob was employed at Henderson State University where he later retired. While working at Henderson State University, he enrolled and completed numerous course credits toward a bachelor’s degree. Bob was a Life Member of the NAACP and the Peake High School Alumni Foundation.

Bob was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert E. Lee, Sr. and Annie L. Nevels. He is survived by his wife, Fannie B. Lee; his son, Joe Allen Lee, United States Air Force, Retired, of Montgomery, Alabama; his son, Robert E. Lee, III, and his daughter, Valerie Faye Lee, both of Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He also is survived by his brother-in-law, Eddie Cranford (Lelia) of New Jersey; and his cousins, Rev. Nathaniel Randall, Clara Randall, Gussie Randall, and Rosie Randall, all of Michigan.
