Shirley Marie Gulley transitioned to a new life on Monday, July 21, 2025, at her home in Gurdon, Arkansas surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on June 24, 1947, in Kansas City, Kansas to Levon Lewis and Gertrude Thompson Lewis.
She was a member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church where she attended faithfully and served dutifully as a no non-sense Usher. A dedicated seam tape operator at Firestone Building Products, she embodied hard work and dedication for almost 40 years.
A true family woman, Shirley loved spending time with those she cherished most. Her home, a place of laughter and joy, was often filled with family gatherings, despite her preference for not being a fan of “having company”. She adored shopping, fishing, playing cards, and engaging in spirited games of dominoes, where her competitive nature brought out the best in those who played against her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Levon and Gertrude Lewis; her sister, Catherine Knox; her son, Terence Gulley (August 14, 2018) and her daughter, Cassandra Young (March 5, 2022).
She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Lolita (Raymond) House of Princeton, TX; her beloved grandchildren, Damesha Christopher, KaShonna Young, Jennifer Young, Ebony Christopher, Brandon Booker, Kimberly Gulley, LaJune Gulley, DazMeonta Crusoe and Titus Gulley; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Getherine Hughes of Gurdon, AR and one brother, Walter Sydney Lawson of Milwaukee, WI. She also leaves a legacy of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and the Mt. Canaan Baptist Church Family.
Visitation will be from noon until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25,2025, at the funeral home. Services will be at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Johnny Harris, eulogist. The interment will be at Rose Hedge Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Darius Knox, Randy Bell, Antonio Knox, Trea’Shaun Heard, Thomas Gulley and David Young. Honorary pallbearers Raymond House, Anthony Anderson, Ernest Dudgeon and Eric Elliott.
