Steven McClure

March 1, 1970 — May 3, 2025

Arkadelphia

Steven Erester McClure was born on March 1, 1970, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, to Phenoid McClure and Bennie House Wells. Steven spent his childhood between Curtis and Lansing. He had the benefit of living north in the city with the hustle and bustle and down south, where things were steady and slow.

He was a part of the McClure family of Curtis, Arkansas, and a member of Mt. Friendship Baptist Church. Steven was an avid lover of sports, showcasing his talents in football and basketball during his high school years. His passion for sports continued throughout his life as he remained a devoted fan, particularly of the Michigan Wolverines.

Steven dedicated many years of service to Henderson State University in the environmental services industry, where he was known for his dedicated work ethic.

He brought joy and music into the lives of others, with a particular fondness for R&B, Hip Hop, and Jazz. Steven's spirit resonated with those around him, making him an unforgettable presence in every room he entered.

Steven suddenly passed on Saturday, May 3, 2025. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leo and Janie Cleon McClure, and Benjamin and Amboline House.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife, Sharon Clark McClure of Arkadelphia; his cherished bonus daughter, Amiya Burks; his mother, Bennie Wells of Lansing, MI; his father, Phenoid (Wilma Kaye) McClure of Arkadelphia, AR; his sisters, Chandra (Raymond) Govan of Jonesboro, AR, Utana Newborn, and Glenda Shavone McClure both of Arkadelphia, AR; and his brother, Benjamin Wells of Lansing, MI; his father and mother-in-law, Jesse and Edna Clark of Malvern, AR; and his sister-in-law, Jessica Clark. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, and friends.
