Tammy Denese Holmes-Scott was born Friday, May 20, 1966, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Alvin Chimney and Mary Jean Scott. Tammy was raised and loved by Willie Perry Scott, Sr., as his own daughter. Tammy was the firstborn child of Mary Jean Scott.
Tammy graduated from Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, in 1985. She moved to California after graduation and later moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma, to pursue and further her education at Guthrie Job Corp and became a phlebotomist. Tammy loved to work; she worked at Logan Hospital as a phlebotomy technician, Westview Living Center, and returned to where she first started her education at Guthrie Job Corp Center as a Specialty Counselor, a role she held until her passing.
Tammy was a member of First Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Hershey L. Hammons, Jr.
Tammy was a very sweet, loving, and caring person. She was truly one of a kind. She had an enormous heart and a smile that brightened up the room. Tammy never met a stranger and would talk to everyone she met. Tammy would open her home to anyone. If you ever needed anything, and she had it, she would give it to you. She was known for her southern cooking. Tammy loved spending quality time with her family. Especially all her grand nieces and nephews. Tammy thought that she had a lucky hand at bingo but loved going to the casino and the movies.
She was preceded in death by her biological father, Alvin Chimney; mother, Mary Jean Scott; her dad, Willie Perry Scott Sr; her grandparents; and one sister, Sara Mims-Scott.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her son, TaCorey Scott of the home; six sisters, Sherry Scott of Shreveport, LA, May Scott (William) of Guthrie, OK, Chaka Scott of LA, Kizzie Scott of LA, Regina Holmes of Pleasant Hill, LA, Katina Chimney of TX, and an extended sister Susan Boxie of OK; seven brothers, Willie Perry Scott Jr., of Houston, TX, Marcus Scott of Guthrie, OK, Ray Lee Scott of LA, Charles Scott of LA, Bryan Chimney, Sammy Chimney, Alvin Chimney Jr. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
